When I was thirteen years old, I received a great surprise when I opened an unexpected package from my father to discover the brand-new copy of the just released "The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time". Holy fucking shit...my Nintendo Power had come and told me how cool it was, but as my mom never bought me video games and I had no source of income I didn't think I'd get to play it for awhile. My father had come through.
My mother at the time worked at home, and as you can probably infer, didn't really approve of video games. I managed to weasel her into letting me play them (and today my little 11 year old brother plays for hours on end without putting up with her shit, which I consider crazy and unfair, but I digress) but it was usually a power struggle. She was in a particularly bad mood with me that day as my grades as of recently hadn't been too good. I was failing English, usually my best subject, because my teacher was a bitch and I hated the repetitive assignments. See, I'm an Einsteinian genius, so school is beneath me. Video games are not.
Anyway, I got this great new game but couldn't "legally" play it, so I had to sneak out into the kitchen (where the video game TV was for some inexplicable reason I can't fathom today) and quietly insert the cartridge into the N64, and turn up the volume just enough so I could hear the soundtrack, but not alert my mother to my activity. More than once she called out and asked me what music I was listening to, and I had to nervously respond that she was losing her fucking mind and to shut the fuck up...well, not quite like that, but the message got through. Something like,
"Uhh, music? Mom, you crazy, you crazy mom, hahaha...." as I dragged myself out of the room just quick enough for assertivity but not too quck as to betray my impatience to play more Zelda.
The point is, as any of you cultured enough to know (and I know most of the people here are geeks in some form or another, as am I with video games) that Ocarina of Time is one of those system-defining games, one of those things that everybody in the generation played and talks about today with fond memories and laughs.
"Hey, you remember you fucking hard the Water Temple Was?"
"Yeah, I about tore my scrotum off trying to find that last goddamn key"
Fond memories.
I bought the new God of War 2 a couple of weeks ago, right before Finals week started. Bad idea...I didn't really FUCK UP per se on all my tests and papers, but I probably could and would have prepared more had I not bought this fucking game. This fucking game that is so fucking fun, a game I have not felt something for since Zelda.
As most boys of my generation do, video games gradually lost importance in my life (Ocarina of Time was probably my peak at around age 13, although I was pretty nuts about Counterstrike for awhile too) and were replaced by girls and an overall social life. If you did your homework, could drive around, worked a job, etc, there simply wasn't enough time in the day to play an excessive amount of video games. My little brother gradually inherited all of the games that I had previously not let him near, got better at them than me, and I didn't care...I had a girlfriend with big tits and a perfect waist and ass...I wonder where she is? I miss them tits.
Senior year of high school, I probably spent less than 20 hours over the course of six or seven months playing games, really the only time I did so was when I occasionally bowed to my bro's challenges (and still beat his butt, usually, as I am the older brother). My first year of college last year included the playing time go up a little bit with mainly sports games, nearly exclusively "Madden 2007", simply because there was always someone to challenge and there was a bit of pride in it. Suddenly, and I have no idea how, video games had become cool. It was no longer shameful to let a girl see you play. In fact, most girls I know played the same n64 games I did...many kick my ass at Mario Kart, though admittedly I suck at Mario Kart.
My friend Paul bought the game God of War for twenty bucks last year...he played it for a few days, but found himself stuck on the boss. So he took a break, leaving the game on and leaving the room for a while. I went in, promptly beat the game, and then had a helluva time restarting and getting him back to the exact same position so that he would never find out (he did, was pissed but got over it cuz he doesn't have a vag).
I have not felt about a game what I feel about God of War 2 since Ocarina of Time...I'm 20 years old, I more or less have a real life, know real girls, drink, am a semi-decent partier...yet the last few nights of college before Spring Break I left the beer-pong table early just to get home and play my new game. It's so kickass, I feel like a dork, but I really don't care. I've already beaten it and most of the extra shit you get, I'm now just going through the game again on the hardest mode (which is nearly impossible, it will probably take me months) just because I feel like a loser for beating a game in two weeks and ultimately wasting 54.67 bucks.
The point is that this is a great game, if you like games at all play it and enjoy it, get the first one first if you haven't played it yet, go nuts, kick ass. I could go into more depth describing exactly how I feel about the video games, but I'm lazy.
Whoooo

You're never too old for games!
I'm 23, sales and marketing executive, work in a suit and go home n play Wii and PS2, or PSP! I love games! Spend my lunchhour in the car on my PSP, Vice City Story's or Metal Gear Portable Ops all the way!
I played the last God of War - amazing game! Need to get the new one! Have a chipped PS2 so will Download it (piracy rules).
Ocarina of time! Not seen that for a long time. Will have to download that (legally) to my Wii!
The new Wii Zelda is amazing too!

About a year after everyone else I have purchased an XBOX 360, any recomendations on games that are non sporting would be welcome!
Already have Pro Evo 6 and Fifa 07 plus Need for speed.
=================
Get Oblivion, Burnout: Revenge, Ghost Recon, Gears of War... Condemned is worth a rent but you can beat it in about 6 hours.

There hasn't been a decent video game since Jet Set Radio. God of War is just Gauntlet Legends with better graphics.

Videogames are losing their grip on me, too. I do have a Wii, but I'm still waiting for anything really worth my while to come out for that fucker. The damn thing is probably a bigger chick magnet than I will ever be.

Holy hell. When *I* was thirteen, the "system-defining" game was Super Mario World, for the then-new SNES. The N64 hadn't even been MADE yet.
+1 for making me feel old.

I've seen pacman conquer and rule this globe.
I'll get me a long white beard. :-(

I remember Ocarina... I went quite a while without playing any video games, then suddenly decided a 360 and Gears Of War would be a good idea. I've wasted a LOT of time on that one.

Sodium tetrasulfide, Na2S4, has been used as a sorbent to remove mercury from flue gas in a number of waste-to-energy plants. By converting vapor-phase mercury to an insoluble solid, it may be removed in a baghouse or electrostatic precipitator typically found in a coal-fired power plant.
In some pilot-test cases, efficiency can be as high as 98%. Sodium tetrasulfide has the main advantage of removing both elemental and ionic Hg species. In addition, Na2S4 is a liquid and is easier to handle than powdered activated carbon.
