An open field is a million things; an empty box the same
With childish eyes the Earth is diverse.
Here should be no shame.
They run into a forest; dark with boughs all gnarled
A place of fear for the adult in us.
The little ones? Enthralled.
They climb upon the highest birch; nodding at passing friends
The birds, the squirrels? Vermin to us.
In their eyes, nature just blends.
Time to lie upon the grass; make shapes of cumulus clouds
A passing old man frowns at the sky.
"Tis rain due" he mutters aloud.
There are shades of neither black nor grey; the colours blaze and shine
Friends just share with open smiles
"here, you can have mine".
Money not an issue, bills are yet foretold
Depression not an issue; not yet understanding 'old'.
They run with grimy fingers; grasping life with tiny hands
Forever playing make-believe of
captivating lands
Infinite purity all around; and I only hear the noise
To hasty in my 'adult' life
To appreciate or muse...
I want to see the world again; from behind my childish eyes
I miss the beauty; the innocence
Where contentment truly lies

Seriously, can all foreign women on this site write good poetry?
Or just you two?
American ladies, listen up - you can learn much from our former owners and the debtors from afar.
Wait, everyone take off their skirts and panties first.
Now the lesson can begin.

This is a shame if you don't move forward.
While I did prefer hers slightly to yours, it really wasn't by much.

You should be ashamed of yourself for fueling the stereotype that girls are better at poetry. Or proud, whichever.

This absolutely deserves a +2 because it captures everything I remember of childhood and everything that today's children are slowly losing.
