Salvation in a jar
Just fourteen dollars buys you life
Cries the man in tattered rags on Fourth and Main
He saw the fire pour from the sky
Knew not of whom to ask or why
Never been subjected to such pain

Can't understand why no one stops to claim his offer
The Truth revealed, they know to pass him by
Initial opportunities were blown
And now they suffer
Just one more chance to try and make things right

This is the Armageddon...

Faded shadows haunt the town
Whose churches all came crashing down
In one fell swoop of wind and flame
Congregrations slaves to sin can't bear to say that He must win
Realizing too late their guilt and shame

Please, Abba, give us one more chance
Cry out the masses
The Truth revealed, no longer blind to the Light
Initial opportunities were blown and now they suffer
Just one more chance to try and make things right

This is the Armageddon...

A second chance will come but only once
So seize the moment
The Truth revealed, it's time to see the Light
Initial opportunities were blown and now we suffer
Just one more chance to try and make things right

This is the Armageddon...

Initial opportunities were blown
For this He suffered
Just one more chance to try and make things right

Since you've bowed out, I'll go ahead and rate the post and screw the circumstances.

I don't really give a shit about the circumstances, anyway, I just thought I'd say that.

I'm confused too. I misunderstood the circumstances.

You know, the only way I do well at all in any comp around here is by others forfeiting, etc.

I'm really not a winner, I just don't always lose.

I should put that on a tshirt.

Plus I really don't want a repeat of last year's drama with Shlongy/Nitty, and I can see that is the direction this could head if not nipped in the bud now.

That, and I really don't have the time to invest in constructing a new poem every week. Round 1 entry was a blessing, but being around Good Friday it was on my mind.

It's not you Anansie...nothing personal. Just the more that I thought about it, Orgasmo and Zebes are right...it was a rather flagrant disregard for the esprit de SUPA, which wasn't really fair to coley.

Therefore, I stand by my decision.

Anyways, don't bow out, let uber decide. At least you were honest about when you wrote it.

Well, now I feel bad. I wasn't trying to make drama, dude. I misunderstood when you said it was a repost.

I'll make the decision then, since apparently no one else wants to do so. Coley can go ahead and take the advance to round 3. Rather than create any more drama than I already have, I'm deciding to take the gentleman's route here and gracefully bow out of round 2.

Oh gotcha...I meant it was a repost without the audio file, which I had initially attached when submitting yesterday.

I'm giving you two the same rating, since I don't know what the hell is going on. I shall let someone else bear the weight of this apocalyptic decision.

How is it a repost if I've never posted it on here before now?

The fact that you wrote this ten years ago doesn't bother me personally one bit, mainly because there's no way of knowing when anything on here's been written. However, it IS a repost, so I'm going to just give you a +1.

Orgasmo - fellow contestants - are you DQing this entry or not? Just wondering about the final verdict.

Would be interesting to see how this would have panned out if I'd never stated the history behind my work nor added the audio file in the original post. Uber being what it is, though, I guess honesty doesn't count for much around here.

Which to me is rather disheartening. But, c'est la vie.

Pasta. And I'm not *nice*, I don't know who ever told you that.

I liked this a lot, and the +2 is for that, but it's against the rules, and I'm sure it won't ruin your life for me to say that.
--------------------------------

Ahhahahaahahaha. You've got it right on the money, coley - it certainly won't ruin my life; otherwise, wouldn't I have gone to painstaking effort to invest more time into my entry, after all?

It's just another silly ol' writing contest like the others, after all, and the point is to exhibit good writing and hopefully have some fun. Whatever happens, happens, and my feelings won't be hurt if I lose by points, get DQed, or Goatsed.

Zebra - the score adjustment wasn't necessary. But thanks anyhow, as long as you're being HONEST about your feelings on the piece and how you choose to rate.

You, nor I, nor anyone else is the same person they were a decade ago.

So, in effect, you plagiarized yourself.

I KNEW I had seen this somewhere before.

This should do it.

After this one it's on to Coley and then it's up to the other voters.

Just because posting a 10 year old poem means you did exactly zero work this round, if nobody else cares, neither do I.

I've decided to negate myself from this particular match-up. If I give you four +2s and Coley one -2, it will make my average score for you both 'worth reading.'

This way, if you happen to tie or it's close I will see how gentlemanly you are and how fair Orgasmatron is.

Sorry for the disturbance.

You will be notified of any further changes.

Don't get me wrong.

I like your poem. Normally, I would say 1.5. I appreciate the sentiment and think it is well written.

But when you say leave it up to Orgasmatron, it puts him in the awkward position of either DQing you for breaking one of the few actual rules, or allowing the entry of his e-buddy.

And you know Coley will say fine, because she's nice and to say no would seem petty.

Post something new, why don'cha?

It might come out really good.

Plus, Coley's last poem sucked the big one.

It was about past, for fuck's sake.

I have nothing anyway so at least you didn't put loads of effort into something for me to forfeit. I've only got a few minutes to crank something out and I'm sure it will be rated accordingly.

Whatevs!

I'll leave the decision up to my dear buffalo-ish competitor, Coley, whether or not to accept my soundless entry. If she does, then marvellous. If not, consider it a gentlemanly forfeit.

If she doesn't respond either way, consider me still in. Unless O-Man makes the trump call as SUPA dictator. :p

Whatever is, is, and my feelings certainly won't be hurt no matter what the outcome. I'm proud of what I wrote and posted despite its age.

No, brother.

You already were honest in telling everyone you wrote this a long time ago.

When there is a time limit, that implies you write something new.

WRITE SOMETHING NEW AND POST THAT

Get with the program, pal. This is a serious poet's forum.

In light of recent events on various national and global scale, here's one from the vaults. Wrote this poem back in '97 during my later undergrad days at university. Several years later, I set it to song, arranging some music for it with my then-band and we recorded it in the home studio.

Those of you who want to go hunting through my Uber library for the audio file can do so, but this repost is to allow fair play on the field with my competitor.
