Athens, Greece, March 1st 2007.
A launch party for Sony's new violent, gory and probably as entertaining as hell Playstation game God of War II featured topless women, people pulling live snakes from a pit, and a decapitated goat. Guests were encouraged to reach into the goat's carcass and eat 'offal.'
Either the top dogs at Sony have lost their fucking minds, or this is pure marketing genius.
The goat was purchased from a butcher; it was not slaughtered for the event. The 'offal' was actually perfectly safe Greek food placed in the carcass. Some of the topless girls wore a little paint.
When pictures of the event were released a lot of people came unglued (do a Google News search for 'Sony party goat' and see the results), and European papers were filled with outrage.
The sad truth of the matter is that most of the writers and readers filled with outrage and disgust are meat eaters who support the slaughter industry, so not only has Sony pulled off a coup by getting serious worldwide mileage out of one publicity event, but they have also unintentionally exposed the utter hypocrisy of newspaper editors who made this event a front page story when the filthy conditions (risks to consumers) and fast pace (risks to workers) and unnecessary animal suffering that occur in slaughterhouses every day rarely if ever make the news.
Pictures of the event were published in Sony's Playstation magazine, and the press run was pulled by the orders of Sony management, but not before about 2000 subscriber copies were in the mail.

i am amused that people who went through psycology class 101 think that they can diagnose you from their computers with vague comments based on guidelines that are only true once you got a full diagnosis and full picture. what amuses me even more is that most of these people (like loki) have a history of psychological treatement. how ironic.
if all teh bed-wetting boys who tourmented animals and played with fire were psychos, i assure you there would be no society at all. fact is, the large majority of children are resiliant and will go on living ordinary lives even if they had violent alchoolic parents or came from war torn countries or extremely poor families or whatever. unfortunately, some aren't and are very sensible to stress and anxiety. some of those become incline to drug abuse and crime. this is where the 'sociopath triad' becomes a pertinent factor. otherwise, you're just trying to be Dr.Phil.

people tried to explain her the word 'addict' once and even after 300 replies with all kinds of different people reviewing, she still couldn't understand. it was even worse with the word bisexual.
you see, unlike normal people who build their insults based on actual info, loki just makes it up and convince herself it's true. she even does it about her. according to her, we are jealous of her life and her ability to have children (i'm not kidding). she's also "gifted" and of course, the old loki trademark "you are intimidated by strong women like me".

Reverse logic? How so? This is merely a statement ripped directly from your basic entry level psychology class that you would take at any university in order to satisfy a general college elective curriculum.
It is a fact that serial killers typically torture animals at some point in their lives.
It is a fact that torturing animals indicates a lack of empathy.
It is a fact that a lack of empathy is a characteristic of sociopaths.
It is a fact that most serial killers are sociopaths.
Ergo it is not exactly a great leap in logic to point to your habit of torturing animals and later throwing up a defense that this is normal behavior as an indicator that you lack empathy and are in all likelihood a sociopath.

Hey don't feel so badly about it. Another common trait of sociopaths is that by studying emotions in others they learn to accurately fake real emotions. It helps them fit into normal society and as a curious consequence many sociopaths are considered quite charming and charismatic.
Of course they lack a soul and generally use their charisma in order to inflict harm on others, but the point for you to cling to like a life preserver is that it is possible to fit into society if you make a concentrated effort to do so.

Killing or even advocating killing does not necessarily make you a sociopath. Not having a conscience makes you a sociopath. The torturing animals issue is merely a manifestation of the sort of lack of empathy that typifies someone without a conscience. It goes to the nature of the violence inflicted. In this particular case, torturing a small defenseless animal that lacks the ability to retaliate or escape it is a pretty clear indication of sociopathic tendencies.

Killing or even advocating killing does not necessarily make you a sociopath. Not having a conscience makes you a sociopath. The torturing animals issue is merely a manifestation of the sort of lack of empathy that typifies someone without a conscience. It goes to the nature of the violence inflicted. In this particular case, torturing a small defenseless animal that lacks the ability to retaliate or escape it is a pretty clear indication of sociopathic tendencies.

cat fishing consisted of using a fishing rod and using cat food for bait. when the cat bitt, he was thrown and drown in the enormous river longing the village. it was even funnier with gulls but unlike soft cat flesh, their beak are hard to hook on.
cat freezing consisted throwing cats at the bottom of street drain and pouring water on them to form a nice ice sculture.
cat fencing consisted of climbing on your house roof and throwing the cat down, aiming for the fence to get it impaled.
KKKat was hanging it and setting on fire with gasoline.

You think an overworked underpaid slaughterhouse employee is gonna make a quick kill every time? Why do you think American slaughterhouses employ more and more illegal workers every year? Could it be they want a workforce desperate for any job and afraid to speak out about the working conditions? And that isn't even addressing the issue of the conditions the animals are subjected to during their lives and the hell of the slaughterhouse.
Why does the poultry industry ROUTINELY cut the beaks of off chickens (without anesthetic)? Could it be because the birds are packed into cages so tightly, under such wretched conditions, that they lose what little minds they have and for lack of a better term go insane, attacking other birds?
There is a huge difference between a factory-farmed turkey and one shot in the wild. If you can't see that you are a lost cause.

I'm in total agreement, however like you indicated in your reply, the real cruelty is in the handling prior to slaughter. Now your talking about it being more humane for an animal to be shot in the wild. Could be as they get to live wild and free. However, don't you think there will be a much higher degree of suffering for those shot in the wild? Most hunter's are far from perfect shots. Beingshot, lying writhing on the ground, and waiting for someone to get there with a knife, cut your throat, and let you bleed to death likely isn't as human as a steel spike through the back of the skull. Overall though, I'm going to go with you, that a free ranging animal wil still experience far less suffering overall, at least at the hands of humans, then those who are factory farmed. This brings us all the way back to the start of the seal hunt. Free-ranging animals? Check. Quick, painless death via high velocity spike rather then bullets? Check. While there is clearly always a degree of suffering and something distasteful in the killing of an animal, it looks like seals get the best of both worlds. So, if you eat any meat at all, stop being a hypocrit and attacking the seal hunt.
Anyway, this whole discussion is a meaningless digression.
Getting back to the point, can you recommend a good cat food for me? I need something for bait in my traps, and I'd like to get something the cat's would at least enjoy. I figure the little bastards might as well have a good last meal before I make like a Newfie on them.

Ah set theory, sure I know a bit about this. While it is perhaps true that one could derive some sort of perverse pleasure in causing the suffering of an animal without growing up to become a serial killer, it is a warning sign.
Meaning that while not all animal torturers are serial killers, most of not all serial killers tortured animals when they were young.
That is what a warning sign means.
It's a bit like the reasoning they use when they identify marijuana is a gateway drug. Clearly not everyone who fires up a fatty ends up shooting smack between their toes, but most people who are shooting smack between their toes started out by firing up a fatty.
That being said, deriving joy at the suffering of others does indicate a dangerous lack of empathy.

Well, some of us 'flakes' know exactly what goes on in a slaughterhouse* and that is why we chose not to eat that stuff. WE don't want to support an industry built on suffering. I have no problem with meat eating if the animal (1) lived well and (2) was killed clean and quick, and while there are some small farms that try to reach that balance I dare you to name any any major meat production company in North America that fits these two criteria.
