At the bottom of this post is a string of alphanumeric characters. I'm posting an image with the characters just so I save Bart any possible headache involved in having this come up in a web search directly related to the code sequence.
These characters make it possible to decrypt the DRM(Digital Rights Management)-protected data stored on Blu-ray and HD-DVD movie discs, using Linux.
What does this mean?
Basically, the below decryption code now makes it a snap to make illegal copies of HD-DVD's and Blu-ray discs, assuming you know your way around Linux.
I figured since Ubersite is all about fucking censorship right in it's ass, it only makes sense to propogate the hysteria surrounding this 'leak' here.
I think it's funny how up-in-arms the Advanced Access Content System Licensing Administrator (AACS-LA) has gotten about all this. They've gone to the lengths of making legal threats against Google, scanning blogs and Linux forums for posts containing the characters and demanding they be removed, etc.
This is a glorious leap in the direction of making music, video, art and anything else that can be 'informationalized' available to anyone who wants it, for free.
Even if you don't give two shits about Linux or the movie industry, surely you can appreciate the fervor this has started.

I don't know what the big deal is. The "key" to decrypting regular DVDs has been around so long that it is just hardcoded into every program available. The fact that the idiots use the exact same scheme for the next-gen of DVDs just shows how ignorant they are of technology. Of course, any scheme could have been defeated with time, but they didn't even put any effort into it. I guess it makes sense, since thinking is so difficult.
