That's a pretty pathetic effort.

Vapor Trails was far superior to Counterparts, except for the crappy production. Better songwriting, more interesting playing. Nice recovery from the dismal slog that was Test For Echo. The 90s were not a good time for Rush (considering the steady decline from marginal Roll the Bones to unimpressive Counterparts to crappy Test for Echo).

I find that Geddy's voice gets better with age (he is physically incapable of that annoying shriek at this point).

This is probably the best album since Counterparts. I'm a fan, but that doesn't mean I didn't crack open "Vapor Trails" listen to it twice and say "This is fucking garbage." When they played a song post 1993 on their last tour, I took it as a cue to go take a piss.

For the record, Counterparts is one of my favorite albums, and I'd rank this one up there with it.
