Ron Paul TROUNCES Opponents in GOP Debate...Yet Gets Almost ZERO Face Time (2999 hits)

That's right, RON PAUL won the debate according to MSNBC's own online poll by an astounding 10% over Mitt Romney! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18421356/ Yet, predictably, the "spin zone" pundits, sadly including Keith Olberman, only seemed able to mention the names of...pretty much everybody BUT Ron Paul.

Imagine that. The only man on that stage who is a true constitutional conservative, the only man on that stage who voted against the war from the get go, the only man on that stage who didn't pander to this "war on terror" drum beating, who talked about changing American foreign policy to stop policing the world (an idea true conservatives should be 100% behind), who talked about trusting the internet more than American mainstream media, who talked about not only cutting taxes, but abolishing the IRS and Federal Income Taxes altogether (not that they really exist in statute anyway), is not getting face time, or even his name mentioned on MSNBC except to tell their viewers in passing, "oh by the way...Ron Paul is winning in our online polling but WE say Mitt Romney won the debate. What's this based on?

That's a very good fucking question. Just what are you basing this conclusion on MSNBC pundits? Could it be that it's just the "liberal media bias" that doesn't want Ron Paul, a true conservative with a one up on even Hilary Clinton in that he voted against the war from the get go? Well, to find out, I turned to Fox News. Guess what...no Ron Paul. More McCain (Bush 3), more Giuliani (Mr. Mobster), and more Mitt Romney (Mr. Polished Interference).

Here's the bottom line, my fellow Americans...

Ron Paul looked at those cameras and pulled no punches. Of course, he was only able to answer about 4 questions, as opposed to, say, McCain, who responded to about 10 according to my rough count. When Ron Paul said that as president he wouldn't tolerate National ID Cards, or unwarranted wiretaps on Americans, and wouldn't under any circumstances abuse or abridge the right of habeas corpus, Rudy Guliani visibly LAUGHED at him in a derisive snicker. When MSNBC announced the online poll results that clearly showed Ron Paul PWNED their asses, they audibly laughed. They ridiculed this man openly.

What kind of childish pageant is this? The so-called "top 3 contenders", which have been seemingly and arbitrarily chosen for us by the media, McCain, Guliani, and Romney, get the overwhelming majority of questions and STILL can't carry a simple online poll should be indicative of something. At one point during the questioning, Chris Matthews, the moderator, asked Mitt Romney ad question, then skipped about 5 people in line to ask McCain the same question, then, as if on cue, the camera turned to Guliani, who, assuming he was about to get his "top 3 contender" moment, looked dumbfounded when Chris Matthews asked the question of another candidate instead. Very awkward, there, dipshits. You could at least TRY to make this railroading, whitewashing, bamboozlement appear legit.

As I am writing this, I am both happy and appalled that while Ron Paul was able to do what I knew he would, which is slay the opposition with a truth that didn't have to mention Ronald Reagan profusely, or conjure Al Qaeda in order to prove his conservatism, he is being swept under the rug. He did that with a sensible, calculated, articulate barrage of truth...the kind that cuts to the core of the problems with which we are faced, the kind that illustrate just how far America has deviated from what the constitution actually says.

Judging from this debate, I don't see how any conservative or even liberal democrat could but conclude that Congressman Ron Paul has by far the best chance of beating Hilary Clinton. After all, he is a constitutional conservative, which should appeal to true conservatives, and he voted against the war from day one, whereas Clinton had her head up her ass with everybody else, and in most ways, still does when it comes to bringing our soldiers home.

Maybe that's why he isn't being mentioned.

Well...you got any better ideas?

Caul your stress levels seem pretty high. If I come off as smug, then I'll live with the fact. There's a certain kind of smugness to anybody pretending to know what's going on, even if they really, sincerely, are just as curious as anybody else. I guess the main difference, then, is that you're being a pretty complete dick. I usually try to avoid being a dick, because it's really just not that much fun. You must enjoy it, though. Is this where you come to relieve your stress? I mean, you seem pretty stressed when you're posting multiple replies in a row taking potshots at people who annoy you on the internet, and if you're not really all that stressed, I don't see why you have to take on that persona. And I'm sure there are other, healthier methods like a squeezeball or something.

And to take shots at my sexuality as if I weren't completely secure in loving cock, and all the things you can do with it, as if you hadn't tried the cock yourself, and is you weren't the visual embodiment of LimpWrist Syndrome. Caul, darling, let's be frank here. I don't think anyone's going to find you to be less of a flamer than I am. You're french, you dress well, you style your hair, you throw hissyfits like the one below. You're catty, there's really no other way to put it. You're one catty, sharply dressed flamer. As a gay man I'm capable of thinking that's kind of cute, but as you at least claim to be straight, I have to ask if you're aware of the image of yourself you project.

hah...what a sore loser you are.

You keep mentioning 'embarrassing' myself. In front of who? You? The digital folks that infest this site? Unlikely.

I impress myself every time I crank out a reply. The only embarrassment I ever feel about my contributions to this site might be for the odd typo or garbled bit of proofreading. I showed you up - again - and you ignore it -again- change the subject - again - and attempt to bully me - again - yet I'm the robot? Does.not.compute.Does.not.compute.Does.not.compute.

One might think you get bored of this - but you don't. Luckily as boring as your input usually is, I always find my repartee delightful.

ironic, if not in the literal sense, is an incongruity between what is EXPECTED and what occurs.

---

Irony is also an occurrence, result, or circumstance notable for such incongruity.

It works.

See you? You are smug. Now you calling him smug isn't ironic - you are absolutely right about that (glod star for you) - however, the fact you are annoyed by him being smug IS ironic.

But an excellent attempt professor - and all in ESL. Very impressive. I had to do research and everything.

I say many things of substantial worth - you just choose to ignore them. Willful ignorance certainly applies to you in that capacity.

i'm not sure if you understand the nuance, but ironic doesn't work - at all.

a smug person being smug by calling others smug is not ironical at all. if anything, it's only the normal course of things.

loki made an actually good post, i don't remember the title in which she talked about people like you who don't seem to understand what irony means but use it for every sauce. you should read it, cuz you're embarassing yourself.

then again, you are not known for saying anything worthy when you venture out of your limited vocabulary about willful ignorance.

the word you're looking for is 'hypocrisy', rob.

in literature, irony is deliberate...its synonyms are sarcasm or satire. in an argument, it is unlikely that someone would sarcastically demonstrate his alleged hypocrisy.

you've been misusing that word for so long, i think it's time we stop laughing at you and someone tells you.

i have a dinner...ciao fatty

The fact that ETS, Caul, and certain other people think that their efforts here aren't just inane cheering. They think that this a highly intellectual pursuit that will, if only we'll listen, make this country a better place.
===
I think that? I don't about ETS, but I know I don't.

I like to talk about politics, like I like to talk about sports or rape. I'm not on a crusade...why should I be? It's american politics, who cares?

However, that long ass rant of yours is an example of your gay fits. I remember, you once wrote me a ten paragraph reply/sermon about my intentions on sucking cock. I read it with a big wtf look on my face, like I read this one. Clearly, in real life, no one ever tells you to stfu when you're yapping with your high-picthed voice.

Not only that, but you act like the other uber kids who think they got everything figured out about life when their own is still largely managed by their parents.

----

oh man, im going to quebec to have gay relations with this guy.

by that i mean we will both get married and have sons and our sons will get married.

---

Posts like these, and people like this, annoy me because there's a central characteristic to them that annoys me. It's not that I think politics are unimportant. I'm interested in politics. I read the news, I'm watching the races, I'm going to vote. I'm more politically informed than the average American. But I understand the actual effect this election will have on the government. I understand the actual effect the government has on my ability to lead a fulfilling and happy life. In both cases, it's not near enough to throw the entire weight of my body into a candidate, and choose to live and die with his poll numbers, as some people choose to waste their life doing. No matter who wins, all the people I love will continue to be. All my favorite books will continue to be. All my favorite food will continue to be. Essentially, all the things that I would say make my life a wonderful one are, at their root, wholly unaffected by this election or the government in general. They're not going to disappear if the wrong person wins. The reach the government has into these things, for myself, and for most people, is minuscule. Not non-existent, however, and sometimes more prevalent for others than for myself, and for that reason I do follow elections, I do follow debates on important issues, and I do vote.

Anyone who follows politics will understand the ability of some people to fetishize a candidate, and in their zeal turn what should be a discussion of ideas and policies into a debate over people, people who are essentially windsails or pawns, whichever metaphor you prefer. It's by this that politics becomes a pseudo-sport, and we all become sports fans. Worse than sports fans, because in this people think their blind loyalty really will make this country a remarkably better place and that their idiotic cheering is the height of intelligent conversation. It's conceited, and at the root, that's the thing that annoys me. The fact that ETS, Caul, and certain other people think that their efforts here aren't just inane cheering. They think that this a highly intellectual pursuit that will, if only we'll listen, make this country a better place. It's conceited. It demonstrates a curious sense of superiority that is completely unjustified. They carry an air of snobbish condescension that needs to be held in check with reminders that, really, in the end, it's not that big of a goddamn deal.

There are other little reasons, but that's pretty much the heart of it. And the thing is, ETS and others will respond to this by reiterating just how important it is that Ron Paul will win, and what an amazing different he'll make, and they'll condescend to me for not taking such serious matters so lightly, and in doing this they'll only prove my point.

i think ETS is crazy in the head, but Spooner needs to shut his trap and stop having "gay fits"

there seems to be a trend with college kids to act like they are cool and collected (when they aren't), that they have perpective and that they have all the answers.

it's almost as aggravating than it was seeing jaypeg act like he's people.

whether it's thrope, Tom, bob or Spooner...the 17 years old need to stfu.

Nooooooooo one cares.

------------

Speak for yourself. Better yet, go play with your hand-turkeys and let the adults speak.

---

Oh, the adults? Oh yes, very important conversation, what with the politics and all. Why, if you don't make this post, the world might end. I'm serious. If certain people are not elected, it is entirely conceivable that rifts in spacetime will spread and, meeting with the rifts in timespace, obliterate us all.

Yes, discussing politics is VERY IMPORTANT.

--------------

And I suppose a black hole would appear on earth if you stopped making your juvenile hand turkeys?

Shut the fuck up. Effeminate infant.

---

Now I sure don't act like it would, do I? I mean I know I take joy in creating them and am just tickled pink when others seem to enjoy them as well, I've never used many grandiose terms to describe their superiority and importance.

Maybe you should relax a little. Don't let politics angry up your blood so much. Read some comics.

------------

I believe he's pro life. He is an OBGYN. A doctor who has delivered more than 4000 babies. Stands to reason. But it's not a major issue with him. He doesn't even list it in his "issues" section of his presidential campaign site: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/html/Issues_fx.html

Besides, I will tell you like I told Loki:

http://www.ubersite.com/m/101402#2403697

I'll add to that review as well by saying that Ron Paul is about LIMITED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, meaning he's an advocate of state's rights.

You have to understand something very few people really realize because of media hype... The president has very little influence on this issue either way. The congress makes the laws, not the president. The president is merely the Commander in Chief of the military and directs foreign policy. He is charged, constitutionally, with "defending the constitution United States against all enemies foreign and domestic". He's not there to tell people whether or not they should have abortions or even the RIGHT to an abortion, a gay marriage, or whatever the issue may be. Now, he can appoint people to positions that may influence these issues such as the Supreme Court, but you're missing the forest for the trees if you're focusing on these intentionally divisive issues the media wants us to focus on.

Look at this man's voting record. Watch some of these videos I'm showing you, and keep in mind that the last thing Ron Paul wants to do as a libertarian is give the Federal government the power to make your decisions for you.

No one pays me dude. I just love my country and I am aware that we are being screwed. That said, I do listen to Alex Jones Quite a lot and consider him a kindred spirit of sorts. He endorses Ron Paul as a true conservative (NON NEO-CON) who is talking about making a real difference, namely stopping this nation-building foreign policy and this big government, welfare state created by and necessitated by the Federal Reserve System.

Don't take my word for it. Just listen to the man.

"Conservatism" and "neo-conservatism" are two TOTALLY different things. You shouldn't confuse the bought and paid for politicians like Bush and co. with true conservatives who call for less nation-building and less government interference in our personal lives.

There is a vast difference.

-----------

Each state is different. I suggest anyone doing this as I am do it now instead of later.

You all know me, I am probably the most cynical and suspicious person there is when it comes to politicians and the political system, but I think if true republicans really take a look at Ron Paul, they'll realize he really is this country's best shot at real progress and by far their best chance of beating the pants off the corporate-run democrats.

Per your voter registration question below, they should allow you to change your party affiliation at the door. I do it almost every caucus depending on who's running. Sometimes I'll swing across party lines to try and steal votes away from a candidate I don't like.

TTOM: Every year we have two elections. A primary election in the spring (the date varies from state to state) and a general election in the fall.

The primary elections are the party elections. This is where all of the Democratic candidates go up against Democrats, and Republicans go up against Republicans. The winner from each party moves onto the fall election to face off against the winners from the opposite parties.

Our third parties are so small, that it's rare that they have primary elections. They usually only pull 2%+/- of the votes in the general elections, which is usually enough to hurt one of the big-party candidates.

Scottish Parliment elections were yesterday, I voted Green. Not that I think theyll ever get in or would even do a good job, its just that Labour are corrupt, the Conservatives hate anyone that makes less than 50gs a year, the Liberals are wishy washy useless twats, I wont vote Scottish National becuase independence is a BAD idea and the Socialists are fucking mental. Yes. The presidential primary isn't until May of 2008, so you have a lot of time. I don't know how your state's election laws go, but in PA you have up until like 6 weeks before an election to register to be elegible.

I'd like to believe there is some hope for sane candidates at this point in time, just because hope is necessary to keep a good outlook on things. I'd support this guy, however, my voting life has shown me that it is nothing more than a farce to keep the people pacified.

Let's be honest. Why do the other candidates sneer and laugh? Because it really is humorous to them. They know that he can't really think he could end up President, and if he does, then he really is loony. Call me jaded. I know I am. The fact is, the corporations and 'elite', the oligarchy that runs America, will determine who the next president will be. That's all there is to it. The 'process' of elections in America is just a flashy show to let the people believe they live in a democracy.

I bet you have to wipe down your screen 8 times a day from all the excited spittle/jism you launch at it.

online poll?? You must realise how epistemologically flawed that is?

---------------

So is an arbitrary assertion by the pundits at MSNBC that Mitt Romney was somehow the "break out candidate" of the debate. My question would be, what the hell are they basing THAT on? They don't even have so much as an online poll to go by, however flawed. And if they didn't think it was worthwhile, why would they endorse the poll in the first place by placing it on their website? Why put it there if you're not going to try and use it in your analysis of home viewers and their reactions anyway?

See what I mean.
---
Coz it's a good way of getting people to go to their website and feel like they're interacting? All the while, taking in the adverts.

I don't think you say 'well - we didn't have a good measure - so we just used any one - it's better than nothing'

If you draw data from a flawed source, it's still invalid and/or unreliable.

Didn't catch the debate. Not that it matters in the big picture.

Paul seems like a half-decent candidate. His biggest problem is that he lacks $$$.

One thing to bear in mind with the online polls: 1/2 of the people voting in them are NOT Republicans, therefore they will vote for the weakest candidate in order to queer up the poll.

I don't watch any debates as it doesn't really say anything about the people. It just reinforces their personal agendas.

With that said, you will never find an unbaised event that has been televised because the network that runs it has to meet obligations to their stockholders, thus making money in the end. They have to make sure people will tune in for the drama, not the politics.

Quoting from: http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_anthony__070503_a_clear_choice_for_a.htm

"The hypocritical moment of the night though came when the question was asked about whether Scooter Libby should be pardoned. The same republicans who bemoaned the "rule of law" when President Clinton lied under oath in a civil proceeding suddenly reversed themselves. One candidate claimed prosecutorial misconduct for even interviewing Libby. Another said that "no crime was committed." One said that Libby was convicted for having a "poor memory." Apparently they forgot what they stood for when Clinton faced impeachment. The concept is simple. The prosecutor was conducting an investigation into a federal crime of outing a covert CIA operative working to protect us from the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. We are talking about treason folks. In the course of that investigation Scooter Libby LIED to the prosecutor while under oath. Because of those lies, the investigation was damaged to the point that Fitzgerald ultimately could not charge anyone. That is why it is illegal to LIE under oath. The stench of hypocrisy was overwhelming from everyone but again, Ron Paul. Paul correctly pointed out that the true issue is that Libby's lies protected people who used faulty intelligence to justify this failed war. Kudos again to the only true conservative on stage."

I'll also add that, during the little "spin zone" punditry that followed the debate, the moderator Chris Matthews, while talking to Keith Olberman UNBELIEVEABLY said, "Not one of the candidates wanted to touch the Libby issue"!!!!

My jaw dropped at that point. The balls of these people. It's astounding how little they think of the American people's intelligence to turn around not an hour after someone had shockingly stated, as a GOP contender, that it was Libby's lies that protected the White House's unjustified warmongering.

Throughout the evening, when given a chance to speak, Ron Paul stuck out like a sore thumb from the pack...sounding like a man more concerned with telling the truth than mere posturing, a man on a mission to inform the people rather than sway them. Still, everything you see or read out of mainstream media already, even with Paul's bombshell statements of revolutionary and MUCH NEEDED truth, are saying that everyone "towed the party line on the issues".

It's surreal to watch this machine at work.
