For those who dont know about the story - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicestershire/6623127.stm
Firstly id like to say that this is obviously a sensitive issue and i hope the girl is found safe n sound.
But, what parent would leave their child in a apartment room in a strange country to go for meals? The apartment they were at had not only a creche, but also a nanny service which wasnt used. Surely doctors like themselves would have recognised the many dangers of leaving a 3 year old and 2 year old twins unattended
Anyway, my main issue with the story is the media role in it - mainly that of the British tabloids.
The parents were both doctors (a cardiologist consultant and a GP) in a wealthy resort; would the tabloids still have been as blameless to the parents if they had been, say, office workers, builders, or god forbid - asylum seekers? No, probably not. they would have raised questions as to where the parents were, and why had they left the kids unattended
And the fact they were in a tapas restaurant. Presumably they were drinking with their meal - this wasnt mentioned in the reports, but again, if it had been working class it would have been mentioned they were having drinks. Making them look even more irresponsible.
maybe the tabloids arent saying anything because the parents are beating themselves up about it. But i still think their story would be different if it had have been someone less well of, or even a celebrity

I agree, something isn't right with this story. You would NOT leave 3 infants alone... and if you did... you are going to be heading for a whole heap of trouble.

There is absolutely no doubt at all that had this been a working class family the parents would have been blamed. What a pair of jackasses.

The fundamental difference between women and men can be seen from their reaction to underwear as part of waking up alone after a one-night stand. If a guy wakes up to find the girl gone but her underwear left behind, he considers that a victory worth bragging about. If a girl wakes up to find the guy gone but his underwear left behind, to her that's a crushing defeat and a source of enduring shame. See?

Any parent who leaves their child alone in a foreign country is an idiot who deserves losing the child. That said no child deserve to have that happen to him/her.

Wait a minute. Are you trying to say that these people are being treated differently because of their economic status?
No way. Would never happen.
