I took the advice of the users who chimed in with suggestions, and so here is a second sample of what I hope is a bit better.

+2 For trying something new.
I've been shooting WAY too many pictures with my new camera trying to learn something or other about photography, so I don't have any valid advice or criticisim.
I really like the car pic.
I would also have liked to see the clouds/parking lot pic from an angle very close to the ground. I don't know why. The way the picture cuts off the curve of the lot/drive bothers me.
I'll shut up now.

I never liked fenders
_________
why not? with the proper equipment I can make mine sound JUST like a Les Paul. Not that I would except for a few songs...pretty pointless to get a Strat and make it sound like a Gibson but I thought it was amusing.

None of them have any sort of special quality indicative of above average photographic talent, sorry.
Best of luck in your next creative endeavour.

I'm not sure what's going on but pictures of bands get a positive score from me. :)

i love seeing people try their hand at photography.
the football one is good. and i like the band shots, 'cepting maybe you could have toned down the bright lights a bit in those?... either way, it seems you took a lot of the advice thrown at you that day.
keep it up if for no other reason than to make yourself happy. photography is an awesome art form.
sorry about no answer on the earlier email... wife had a baby and has been really sick and i have not had much time to get back to people. i'll respond soon.

Well, I had to use the flash in order to use a faster shutter speed (eliminating the blur) but yeah the flash is a bit dramatic. As for the e-mail, don't worry bout it. It's pretty understandable that you would tend to a child and sick mother over anything else.

Am I the only one that has an issue with the drummer drinking red bull instead of Jack?

The flash does seem a bit harsh in a couple of these. Keep trying, and I don't remember if I said it before but if you tape some tissue paper over the flash it helps diffuse it a little.

Watch for any extreme color alterations though. The biggest sign of an amateur is over-styling. Subtlety is the key. Great start though.

I like the car one. They're all pretty good but with a little effort they could be so much better. You need to adjust the light settings for outdoor photos. You're not getting all the color in the picture. Or just wait for a sunnier day to snap them. Also, a little altering with PS never hurt anyone. Just don't overdo it.

no no I appreciate the advice. I beleive the soccer photo was taken from the file that held the ones before the editing, but I'll have to check with that. I do agree with you, however, about altering it to bring out more color. As for PS, I've recently installed Paint Shope Pro X on my computer so I am just starting to learn all the tricks it can do.
