that's it, i'm gonna accomplish my objectives now. i want to know who is moderate, who is republican, and who is left-wing. why do i hate moderates/liberals the most? well, here's why.
1. moderates almost always base their views on the majority.
2. moderates usually don't give a flying fuck about politics, but they want to sound smart in conversations.
3. moderates have no political ideal, they go with the flow and trust that the system itself is good
4. moderates don't take a strong enough stance to do shit.
5. moderates don't care about progress to do shit.
6. they think they're so high and mighty because they're not republicans.
7. they believe in legalizing pot but not in smoking it.
8. they raise their children to be just like them.
9. they usually (in this country) are religious, which pisses me off because they have a "king of the world complex"
10. they think that republicans and democrats are two opposite extremes, whereas they conveniently ignore all leftist and denounce them as crazy.
i'm pissed off. i'm going to flame people for being stupid (except for some reason squattail seems cool).

It's interesting the word "republican" has right-wing connotations in the US because the main conservative party uses that as its name. In Ireland, "republican" is the name of nationalist terrorists. In a more general context, republican has progressive connotations due to its basic meaning of a person supporting a republic (Latin "Res Publica", "the people's thing") as opposed to a monarchy or other régime.
"Democrat" and "people's party" are also radical terms in countries without democracy, but in those that already enjoy it, it tends to be in the names of dull, centrist parties.
Countries often have other words that become warped by being the name of a party. The most common example is probably "socialist", which is in the names of virtually all European social-democratic parties, some of which are now even conservative. The UK is a special case because its old socialist party has always used the name Labour; however the same fate has befallen this word: it means "the working class" --as opposed to the ruling class, called "Capital"-- but it has long been meaningless, with the Labour Party moving from social-democracy to conservatism. The Conservative party are arch conservatives and The Liberal Democrats, the party traditionally between the two others and condemned as pointless and centrist, are now effectively the most left-wing party.
"Communist" is another word blighted by party names. It refers to the final aim of socialist politics "from each according to his or her ability and to each according to his or her need", but both the more progressive Marxists and libertarian socialists abandoned the term long ago to Stalinist parties.
The lesson: it's good to know what your words mean when you use them.

Do you know what a moderate is? Moderate is someone that is unaffiliated. i am a moderate, a fence rider if you will. I agree that abortion should be legal(like a liberal) and I believe that the death penalty is all good too(like a conservative). You may blindly follow what your political associations tell you too but I am unlimited in my views. I believe in legalization, I smoke pot, I am agnostic, I support gay rights, I supported the war in Iraq, I hate pc, eggshell, bullshit, yadda yadda yadda. You don't seem to understand what it is. I thought I would elt you know that you were making a jackass of yourself.

If you know so damn much about these things, answer a few questions for me:
1) Which philosopher, besides Marx, put forth a convincing argument for socialism?
2) In considering socialism, have you taken into account de Tocqueville's theory of enlightened self-interest and the tendency for this theory to hold up throughout history?
3) Can you give me one example of where pure socialism has been attempted and has succeeded?
