* DISCLAIMER *
My intarweb hate is usually directed toward the few digital entities residing in my computer who have demonstrated obvious stupidity, voluntary ignorance, complete classlessness, or feel that they are owed something by society. Drogoroch, to the extent of my studies, fits neatly into none of these categories. His character in the Überplay is not that of a villain or antihero; quite the opposite, in fact.
In scanning his literary landscape (http://www.ubersite.com/u/drogoroch) for stones that I might throw, I found a number of stories that are both amusing and memorable. I noted that I actually have not rated many of them in the past, and that was to my discredit for not paying sufficient attention to them at the time. Drogo's stories usually require the reader to think, to react, to consider, and to feel. They are worthy of reading and rating, and I shall make right my failure to do so. Consider yourselves so advised.
Some of Drogoroch's posts are simple accounts of an event from a first or third person perspective. A conversation is related, often with interspersed musings to convey the difference between what is said and what is thought. A great writer once said, "Often I must speak differently that I feel. This is called politics". Drogo's writings, when in this style, often remind me of that quote.
Other Drogo posts, especially the short fiction, have more of an internal-external dialogue feel to them The reader is invited to know what the characters are about without it being obviously explained in a "Mary is from Ipswitch. She likes chips and was molested by her uncle" sort of way. This makes the characters more real and the story more enjoyable to the reader.
Drogoroch employs other styles in his writing, but they are also variations on the theme of getting inside the thoughts of the characters. This common trait permits the reader to be carried with the story being told. That is why the reader remembers a Drogo post after it has been read - the reader has been involved by either identifying with or disagreeing with some or several aspects of the characters.
