Ah, Surrealism. What a wondrous, frabjous world we live in that has such things in it.
Salvador Dali, Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, and a bunch of other twisted fucks created this sub-genre in the artistic world before LSD brought it to the masses.
Such Creativity...
Such Imagination...
Such Gibbering Madness...
Surrealism is my favorite type of art perhaps because it bathes in the Chaos that I so enjoy. Some of it is ugly, some of it is stunningly beautiful, some of it is just plain incomprehensible.
Still, all of it speaks to me far more than the ordered realism of, say Edouard Manet. Even Impressionism as exemplified by Van Gough seems too structured for my tastes.
No, I prefer worlds both wondrous and terrible, where beauty can mask horror and insanity can cloak heart-stopping loveliness.
...But, then again, that's just me.

"the persistence of memory" was the foreplay for buttraep of the surrealist n00bs. by surrealist n00bs i mean me, and a bit of Google, and some Wikipedia fun.

My favourite type of APW... I mean art.
Amazing how it only seems to be those that paint "surrealism" that are actually interested in drawing realistic looking, life-like pictures.
