- The main attack point people use on other people are differences. We also use supposed or assumed wrongs against us or others as attack points, but somehow the allusion of another member of the same species as us being "different" makes us feel less compassionate about what their opinions are. I am not claiming that the views I am about to present here will resolve any major problems in our world society, but at least it is a step forward, rather than the normal human trend of stagnant sitting, only until being forced to move ahead intellectually. (i.e. religion and neo-conservative thought)
So what do I mean by this? Perhaps an example will set things straight. Most Iraq war protesters use troop deaths in their defense, without even reasoning that troop death is part of the contract, or part of the job description. Every soldier tries to avoid death when possible, but for one who's job is to march into death if need be, then that is what must happen. I have heard far less cries of the Iraqi civilians that have been killed in this war (mostly by their own supposed kinsmen or cultural equivalents - like I said, culture isn't the only problem), whose numbers far outweigh the troop deaths. Why is this? Could it be because people have loss touch of what truly matters in this world? Well, perhaps I should retract that statement. Has humanity really ever focused on what really matters, or in other words, what really, actually exists? The United States of America, Iraq, Britain, Spain, they are all creations of man. Nothing more than labels that are stuck to those who do not choose to be born there. People don't even choose their own minds, their own looks, even their own beliefs most of the time. They are all pre-given, due to what? Culture. Human life is real. It was not created as a "label" for humans to use to create a reason or identity for the chaos in their existence. Life is concrete, and each "life" holds just as much weight as the other on that lowest scale. Clarity over purpose. What purpose is a purpose if it is all false and able to be defined on perception alone? Breathing is a purpose. I stop breathing, that is the end for my observed existence. I stop being a certain nationality or religion, and what happens? Nothing. I sit just as I do now. Only the cultures and their systems care. My existence does not.
"What is there to be proud of, then?" I have been asked in response to what I have said above. Nothing. It is all glitter, all an illusion that feeds upon primitive emotions. The human condition can be improved, but only by the humans themselves. As long as there are false walls and imaginary lines strewn about the face of the earth, there will always be conflict of these differences. The solution? Realization of the illusion. This is not intended to halt all problems concerning the bias that revolves around culture, and around the fragile and animalistic nature of humans and their emotions itself. Even the atoms that make up matter are + and -, nothing is inherently good or inherently bad. Everything comes in doses of + and -. If I am wrong with this statement, then why is there a death penalty, and why are military combatants who murder decorated with awards? Given the trite and tried belief of plain "good" and "evil", death by force or murder should be inherently bad, no matter what the circumstances. Alas though, even the so called religions that take the good vs. evil stance cannot deny the presence of a necessary +/- approach.
Perhaps now you see that when you have a world leader whose country is in the midst of a war between cultures they cannot understand, and in response to outspoken criticism uses the statement, "There is not a civil war over there, there is evil! Pure evil!", that we must reconsider what we have previously believed. There is oil under those sand dunes, and you can bet your ass that if there wasn't there would be no "war on terrorism" (That statement is not an attempt to jump on the "We've over there for oil!" bandwagon, it is based on empirical observation of documented history). I can almost guarantee this, because the thought processes of those who dislike the west start their belief system with religion (a cultural byproduct that can transcend cultures when needed) and end it with physical actions that those "cultures" have committed against them or others.
The "terrorism" aspect of this religion is obvious. I quote the word terrorism because it is a cheap buzz word that does not exemplify the true nature of the fanatics - they invoke death upon themselves because they believe that it is an easy ticket to heaven. Why deal with the rigors of hard-work and strict adherence to the book throughout life when you can be golden and pure in one swift action? Now, why do you think these people hold the belief that their enemies are the enemies of their god, and thus would be the enemies of the universe itself, and for that reason they deserve death as punishment? First, culture, and second supposed or assumed wrongs as I have explained in the first two sentences of what I have written here. All one "jihadist" has to do is reference the crusades, the shah of Iran, etc. All one "patriot" has to do is reference September 11, the London bombings, etc. Both causes are noble and just, both adversaries are evil. A torrential downpour of +'s and -'s, only discernable through the eyes of whomever gazes upon them, whose brain will come to an opinion given their culture and preinstalled beliefs. ALL ILLUSION.
Humanity is filled with such promises, yet is reduced to this. The media outlets make money off of this cluster fuck, thereby hyping people even further and plunging the spear of difference into the venom of conflict. And of course, the problem is always the other "culture", never us, right? And if it we might reflect upon ourselves, surely we are traitors. No doubt that we are the +'s and they are the -'s, always.

Thanks for the critque, to be honest I would not have read this if I didn't write it either. At any rate, I just wanted to see if anyone out there could make sense of the mess in my mind. I'm glad to know that some people liked it.

I did read it, and think it was informative, maybe a little too much ranting for those spoiled elitekiddo's here, who cannot be bothered to read more then 2 coherent lines.

calm down Mr. sensitive, picking a fight with you is the last thing i would want.
and of course you can be embarrassed for people you don't know, the stand up comedian who just isn't funny, a person who thinks they can sing well but can't etc....
---
OH YEAH?
REALLY?
um... ok. Perhaps I am a little sensitive... chalk it up to 'shell-shock'.
You make a good point.
Of course, your 'embarassment' suggests that you like this 'rob_berg' moniker... which I think is cool. I like you too.
I'm sorry that I embarrass you... but I gots ta be me.

stop whoring yourself out rob_berg, it's embarrassing.

Curious.
1) Who would it be embarrassing to? I'm not embarrassed - certainly you wouldn't be embarrassed for me - you don't even know me.
2) I like the way this person thinks. Unlike you, I read what they had to say and would like to see about discussing things further - being as how this person is 'new' I thought I would introduce myself with some of my more thoughtful posts - not the Uber-drama laden schlock that infests the front page now.
3) Why are you picking a fight with me?

You are standing outside Oxford Circus tube station shouting this through a loud hailer. Its raining lightly, you have dirty hands and wild eyes. A young mother quickens her pace whilst pasing you and puts a protecting hand on her daughters shoulder.
