Does it have Master of Magic, Star Control 1 & 2, and the Wing Commander series? If not, you got ripped off, man.

Extreme G was on the 64 only, this game was on PC. It had much more primitive graphics, too.
I might make a separate post for this. It's driving me mental.

I am wondering whether or not I should just track down the guys from primary school and ask them if they can remember what it was called.

Extreme G or F Zero-X?
---------------------
Nope. Combat only - no racing. Good guesses though - from the screenshots on google images it had a similar feel to those games. Inside only though.

Damn, this sounded promising, thanks for the suggestion. Not it though - I forgot to mention this game was in 3rd person view.b Part of what made it so cool.

ZAXXON GOD DAMNIT! FUCKING ZAXXON! I'd take a human life for a working ROM of it. The game was for the Atari2600, (there was a bullshit sega version, but fuck that, it sucked), and it was an angled side scroller...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaxxon
was, at the time, one of the cooler games out there.

Wow. An actual question?
It's funny, you complain so much about my use of the word conjecture - but I'm genuinely curious if you have any insult in your flabby arsenal that isn't slathered with it?

unlike you shlongy, i STILL go out and party and get laid, instead of reminiscing about my long gone youth while i stave off osteoparosis with a glass of calcium-enriched milk, and hence i CAN make silly nerd posts like this and not have to bluster and carry on about how 'cool' i am so that other people dont think so much of the reality of my decrepid, incontinent, nappy-swaddled life.
though of course, when you do it, it is jsut so cute. like that grandpa that insists on dancing at weddings and family gatherings. cute, with just a bit of creepy.

Nope. Less violent, more like Robot Wars but with cars. They were really thin cars too, kind of like brightly coloured bobsleds with spikes and wheels.
Maybe I'm just imagining this game existed.

Can anyone help me remember the name of this game: It was out in the 90s, and consisted of a big symmetrical room/arena with ramps up the side and in the middle etc. where you drove a special car around and battled other cars with lightning and flame and stuff. You sometimes had like four cars driving around this big battle-garage type thing really fast. The ground was kind of dark-grey coloured, and the cars were bright white, pink, yellow etc. and all sharp and dangerous looking. It was called something like "Battleblade" or "Rollerdeath" or "Arenakill" or something.

Nah, it was way more futuristic than that. The arena was closed in and dark, too.
The cars are more thin than normal cars.
