Since folks around here seem so open with their advice, I thought I'd ask it of my music.

...or at least :60 of it. I guess I don't care if you -2 it but if you do at least say why you did.

The effort and me being a sucker for freestyle guitar saved you from the -2.

It's good. Try to actually hum out loud the notes you're hitting. Everytime you have to take a breath, stop playing guitar. Guitar solos should have pauses for 'breath'.

But your technique sounds pretty good and it's obvious it's not a stranger in your hands.

Keep jamming.

Asshole, just because I happen to share the same part of an online fucking username with some other idiot, it doesn't actually make me the same person. How about that for a turn-up for the fucking books, eh?

Also - how about not assuming I'm an American? I don't live in a 'dorm', you self-righteous prick.

I know it's an improv, but your trying too hard by cramming bits and pieces together. It sounds like you've put about four or five ideas together. There's nothing wrong with doing that, it's just that it doesn't quite click, you know. You've got this nice little arpeggio at the start, then it slides into a blues pentatonic. Then it dies all together and re-emrges as this jazz fusion pillow with another arpeggio thrown in, then back to the blues based section for the finish. Concentrate more on the last half of this piece and see if you can expand on it. It's much more solid then the first half.

_____________________________

I thank whatever and whoever is holy for comments like these.

You sir are a welcomed respite from the sophomoric and empty commentary most others have to offer.

And what's more - you're spot on. My soloing is indeed a mix of pentatonic arpeggios, jazz-inspired licks and blues sounds.

I'll be taking this advice, thanks again.

I hate to break it to you, but this is absolute trash.

There are ways to sound better on guitar, aside from cranking up the delay to absurd levels. take some lessons and get back to us. you fucking blow.
===
i just said this doesn't qualify as anything. this doesn't sound anything like i play.

there were a bunch of hip hop pricks i had never met before jamming in a corner of our loft. i picked up the guitar and randomly toggled the effect pedal. it wasn't even my gear. on top of that, i was drunk as fuck. if anything, i was merely amused that it sounded remotely coherent.

funny you would compare yourself to that shit...lol i can understand why though, even botching and drunk as fuck, i still made a ressemblance of a melody and actually followed a beat unlike this trash you posted.

thanks. I play a 79 reissued strat through a marshall valvestate amp. this clip had a smattering of reverb and just a hint of deep depth chorus added to it. i know that's cheating in some regard but I can't help but love the richness these two effects give when paired together.

Drop me an e-mail if you want any help with recording (captainthorns.at.gmail.com) - and feel free to check out some of my stuff if you haven't: http://www.ubersite.com/u/CaptainThorns/l/captainthorns_music. Cool stuff, nice sound too.

I thought it was pretty decent...would be very curious to hear the chord progression behind this in an acoustic guitar or keys (assuming you have one in mind).

Drop me an e-mail if you want any help with recording (captainthorns.at.gmail.com) - and feel free to check out some of my stuff if you haven't: http://www.ubersite.com/u/CaptainThorns/l/captainthorns_music. There are recording concepts and tips scattered throughout a lot of those posts, particularly "Show of Hands" and "Shenanigan Pie."

A catchy little ditty, that. Well done.

A JM line? No wonder. They pretty much ALL work at one time or another.

They are saying, "Forget the night.
Live with us in forests of azure.
Out here on the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned - immaculate."

I'm old.

Good to know, though. I'll have to try that out.

A blue forest? In my mind, I'm already there.

That was a pretty line. Which is to say, it would work on me.

I liked it. It's a bit early Alex Lifeson-ish. Keep it up.

But why is a 60-second solo piece 10 megs?
