Time seemed frozen, as I sat and stared blankly at a face exempt of the expression I so helplessly craved in order to carve my own. The eyes I wished were filled with tears seemed listless yet determined, with a strong purpose in hand, and an undesirable message to get across.
There we sat, miles away from each other, staring right through the now faint illusion of reality as time and space seemed to warp and split in to what my mind could only perceive as a hope, rung and tattered by careless hands.
I clenched my fists. My teeth followed.
Soon an ineffable urge coursed through my weak spirit, a conscious realization of the self perpetuated despair rose to its peak, as I stood stalwart to my unappeasable reality, slowly reforming molecule by molecule in the midst of the static chaos.
It's amazing how quickly your priorities can shift. The sudden change in the air brought with it an aura of hopelessness. Change is truly forced upon the faithless, who create their own reality, leaving others to theirs on an intentionally long and narrow path.
The walk itself is an exercise in futility, a means to exhaustion, a hope for a light at the end of the tunnel, a sliver of continuity, and a constant struggle against falsehood.
