"BUDDAH!" "Go to HECK!" "Awe, FUDGE!" "Dag nabbit!!"
All these phrases have something in common, the trait they "lack" is what makes them far less satisfying as expressions of temperament. They are not cursed.
Every culture has a unique set of cursed words and phrases, usually born of terms adopted from conquered cultures, therefore rendered "beneath" the language of the conquering country. This is speculation arrived at from my own personal reading, and I do not tout it as fact.
Most of the following I cannot prove, nor will I make any attempt to do so. I form these ideas from my own logic, albeit a tad abnormal. I speak as I believe it to be, so if you disagree, you have every right to do so, but by telling me you disagree, you accomplish nothing without some sort of compelling argument accompanying your statement of disagreement.
This world functions on a broad spectrum of energies, only very little of which we can actually see, such as light. The spectrum of energies goes beyond electricity, magnetism, and radiation, however. Our minds are energy, in and of themselves, creating fields and emissions the general public does not have the ability to manipulate.
Negative thoughts are negative energies, the originators of these thoughts are known as negative people. Most people can almost tangibly "feel" the negativity in extreme cases. This is just one negative person, however. Now, take 300 million people all channeling the same negative energies into a small segment of language deemed inappropriate, and you have a set of words and phrases carrying a LOT of negative energy.
When one casually says, "I would like to fuck an omelette", not a lot of negative energy is released, because of the users lack of energy put into it. The effect is further reduced by someone who casually curses frequently. "Fuck you" means a lot less when the person says "fuck" in nearly every sentence he speaks. If or when a person like myself (who virtually never curses) winds up livid, and in a red-faced rage I say "Fuck you", the amount of negative energy I release with it tends to be plenty enough to genuinely offend the individual with whom I am displeased, even if the individual is fairly accustomed to hearing the phrase.
Now, that was speculation. The following however is based on a particular faith. Be warned, you may feel condemned, and therefore upset. There is a reason acting on such emotions is called "losing your cool". Don't take it personally.
We all know the satisfaction of cursing in the event of a stubbed toe. But from where does this satisfaction come? It satiates an inherent visceral desire for evil. Every human being on earth carries this nature of evil, according to the Word of God. Cursing His Son is becoming a more common occurence, while mysteriously, few are concerned with the blaspheming of other deities.
Ironically enough, the most hated faith on earth is the only one that guides people away from death. Everything declared a sin in the Bible is satisfying on this visceral level. Yet every sin will eventually kill the sinner. The wages of sin, after all, are death. Sin, by nature, is self destructive, and this leads me to believe that an individual cursing is bringing grave harm upon himself by cursing unrepentant in excess.
In conclusion, I believe it is the inherent evil in the word that makes it so much more satisfying to yell "FUCK" when you stub your toe, as opposed to the self-restrained "OW". I would be sincerely interested in speculation from others regarding the prevalence of curse words and the reason for the satisfaction of using them in stressful or strenuous circumstances.

I consider the phrase "go to heck" as a bad curse. It translates to "I wish you to suffer unending torture, total separation from love and a complete lack of mental, emotional and physical peace.

I figure folks been cussing pretty much the same as they always have.
I also figure the Bible is full of a lot of lunatic text.
Just my opinion. I\'m not condemning anyone.

Personally, I think stubbing one's toe and saying "Goddamn" would not be 'taking the Lord's name in vain' as much as a televangelist using the name of Jesus to line his pockets.
I also think cursing and blasphemy and taking a deity's name in vain are three different things.
As for the word fuck, it is simply the greatest word ever invented, and brings pleasure not because it's evil, but because it's taboo and luscious.
