Dust in sunbeams, cruel and bright
Harsh, unyielding is the light
Dancing memories take to flight
And, in the dark, she waits
Creaking boards and rusty nails
Fevered breathing, sickening wails
Dying babies, her hope pales
Sweet victims of ill fate
Ghost children haunt those empty halls
Their laughter whispered to the walls
Forever a mother's spirit calls
And, in the dark, she waits
Her heart is ash, her soul is dead,
She lay there, naked, on her bed
What's left of them escapes her head
And in the dark she waits
