I've noticed that in the last decade or so there has been a great push towards sincerity. I find this quite funny since one can be sincere but not truthful. Here is an example I have used in the past:
1 - Sincerity: I still want to be friends and hangout
Truth: I don't really want to be friends and it is irrelevant to me whether or not I ever see you
again
2 - Sincerity: I really appreciate you being there for me.
Truth: I use you for cocaine
3- Sincerity: I'm so sorry your dog died, that must be really hard.
Truth: If I pretend to empathize I hope she shuts up.
4- Sincerity: I'd be happy to get you a fork
Truth: Fuck you I have seven other tables and foods dyin in the window.
5- Sincerity: Hey man its really good to see, I haven't seen you in forever how have you been?
Truth: Who the fuck is this person, I can't wait til they go away.
So two rules for dealing with people:
1. People lie, cheat and steal all the while they are sincere.
2. Be sincere, even if you don't mean it.

I think what you are referring to is actually called "insincerity." Just for future ref and whatnot.
This is precisely the point. Sincerity does not apply to the truth of the statement, merely the tone.

Can't say where the big baby comes in, I'm not particularly complaining. I just think that it is amusing that how one says a thing is more important than what a person says. However I may have cited poor examples.
