It started raining heavily on her way home so she took shelter in a gallery doorway. The weather had been dreadfull all summer, apparently the worst summer in recorded history if the tabloids and their made up facts were to be believed. She really should have brought an umbrella or a rain jacket but she wore light jeans and a teeshirt in the futile hope that meteorological forces would cop on and come to their senses. Every drop of cold July rain washes away another Irish Summer.
In the window of the gallery hangs a huge oil painting of a child at play. Up close its not very clear so she has to stand a little back to take it all in. It's just a blotchy image of a child, how could someone pay, she scannes down to the tag, FOURTEEN GRAND for that?
Its only a picture of a child playing with a doll. She used to have dolls but couldnt even remember the last time she played with one. It was before, no, it was, it was when her brother was born and she was twelve and she had to move into the other room because they were setting up hers as the nursery. She was so mad and defient and put all her dolls into a box and refused to play with them as she was a big girl now. She wonders what her mother did with that box and makes a mental note to ring her and ask.
The child in the painting seems happy to be just playing with the doll in here room without all the worries that inevitably come with adult life. She wishes she could feel that innocent joy from time to time. It would be wonderfull to have something to remind her of what its like to be really happy.
She takes another long hard look at the painting, smiles and laughs, and decides to just walk home in the rain.

I'm really a one thousand and something user who took some time off from the hate, when you start calling people you never met Ghey Menz you know you gotta give it a break. The post was about art and appriciating it rather then a specific artist. I could have just googled a random picture that matched the discription but I decided not to. Yea, I know, whats that breaking the mould on a stupid bandwagon thing all about eh!!!
