Maybe it's the amount I've been drinking lately.
Maybe it's that I haven't slept well in a week.
Maybe it's the drug habits.
The rotten food I've picked away at.
But just now..I thought I saw something coming at me out of the corner of my eye.
Something flashes before me in an light that burns deep red.
And it singes my eyes and puts fears in my head.
I drink a cup of coffee and smoke a stale cigarette I just found behind a guitar.
You wake up and the silk sheets call out for me.
Maybe they don't.
I think about the possibility of leaving.
I consider my mind.
I smoke another cigarette and close the door.
There are many people in the world.
The worst are the ones that never need to try - it just always happens the way it should.
They're the worst because they don't recognize that.
And then there are the people that fight for every inch of survival.
While the others sit back and complain about the ease of it all...of boredom.
Seeking a purpose and a place.
They fade, these people.
They work.
File.
Agree.
Go home.
Eat.
Sleep.
Fuck.
Repeat as necessary.
There's guilt associated with never allowing yourself true happiness.
On account of others.
It's what drives men mad.
Among other things.
Madness hovers overhead.
Lack of sleep.
Alcohol consumption.
I look out the window.
It's rained too much this year, and now that the sun's out I miss the greyness of days past.
I see a flower growing in the grass next to the house.
I think of it as our love.
It's new.
It's delicate.
It's all alone.
But it's as if I went down there and step on the fucking thing in my mind.
Pushed it back down into the ground it came up from.
Still alive.
I want it to live, the poor innocence of it.
The beauty.
The purity.
The truthfulness.
The life it has.
The inspiration that it gives me.
I want to go pick it, before the man I pay to cut the grass mindlessly runs it over with a spinning blade and it's gone forever.
I want to give it some more water,
Keep it inside, where it's safe.
But then I realize that if I do that it will die sooner.
I need to leave it right where it is,
And I'm sad about that.
I really love that little flower.
I love what it represents.
How it grew there in the first place.
And the hope that it will be alright.
I fell asleep in a chair last night.
Looking up at the ceiling and thinking it was the floor.
"How the fuck did I get up here?" I think to myself.
I cough loudly.
You called me the other night.
I loved talking to you.
I still love talking to you.
I'll never find you again.
I want to know where this all fits together,
And how it all makes sense.
There's a reason that you meet people.
There's a cause.
And subsequent effect.
I think I'll turn the bbq on, pour a glass of bourbon and make something to eat.
I miss you.
I hope your laundry is done.
I hope you feel better today.
I feel like I'm missing something, maybe I need to go write this all down.
Hey...
Oh.
Never mind.
