How did you stumble across the internet crack know as Uber?
What did you discover that was good enough to keep you coming back day after day?
What will keep you coming back?
Mine is a story similar to many of yours I am sure. I was bored at work one day browsing through bored.com and thinking how this site sucked balls. I started experimenting with various URLs and eventually discovered http://www.boredatwork.com and that lead me to Uber. At first I was just an occasional reader but the thing that first brought me here was the Tom Sorrell series 'Fun With Real Email'
http://www.ubersite.com/u/BuckeyesTHEGAME/l/fun_with_real_e-mail
Read them, they are fucking hysterical. I enjoy a lot of posts by Tom, he is a fairly funny character who tells a good commentary.
After the fun with real email I discovered someone who could photoshop with a hilarity I had never seen...
http://www.ubersite.com/m/61106
There is tons here, check them out.

As far as writers go, my favorite and one that kept me here was Snark.
This was my favorite series:

http://www.ubersite.com/m/65815
http://www.ubersite.com/m/66111
http://www.ubersite.com/m/74764
But I loved the Necrosiac too:
http://www.ubersite.com/u/Snark/l/necro
I have discovered a write who also has a dark style that I fucking love:
http://www.ubersite.com/u/kaos-king
Buy his book, it is on amazon...
Pentamater has written some shit that cracks me up, pretty much any of the stories about dating are awesome. Read them, you wont be disappointed.
http://www.ubersite.com/m/85642
http://www.ubersite.com/u/Pentameter
Caul and I got off to a rocky start but now I love that Metro French fucker, he cracks me up and never ceases to amaze me how he can get 2k hits per post. Regardless of the shitty content.

turned into

There are tons of other users that entertain me with the quality of their posts, or at least how funny they are...
http://www.ubersite.com/u/darko
http://www.ubersite.com/u/Jack_McCallum
http://www.ubersite.com/u/shandythedog
http://www.ubersite.com/u/JoeyG
http://www.ubersite.com/u/The_taste_of_Monkeys
http://www.ubersite.com/u/Axolotl
There are more but I am a lazy cunt so that is all you get...
I also discovered that a good friend of mine regularly used to troll the old ubersite...
http://www.ubersite.com/m/63566#1248921
My good buddy Billy Q, who got hitched a while ago to another friend of mine.
http://www.ubersite.com/u/William_Q_Percy
http://www.ubersite.com/m/91985
The things that are gonna keep me here are internet drama and comedic relief the everyday drudgery of my boring fucking job.
In other words, keep it up Oathy and storm. Don't think that you are doing anything that hasn't been done before. You are no different than jimthefiend, IHAKF, FAG BELOW, or any of your other internet muscle flexing predecessors and I love you for it.
Oh and I can't have a post about my experiences with uber without the obligatory brown-nosing shoutout... I <3 Shlongys reviews.
That is all.

I saw the link to boredatwork.com after I finished reading everything on Maddox's site. I then read everything on boredatwork, and after realizing all the best stuff came from ubersite, I crossed over again and started reading everything from the beginning until I came up to the front page (naturally this took several weeks). I decided I could do this and applied for membership.
the rest is history...

It's funny how Ubver attracts the same kind of people in the same kind of way.
I began with a trip to boredatwork.com - on which I found the story "I was raped by my Dyson" from there I became a casual reader, Lolling at work, checking back now and then.
Until I found "The dude upstairs" - this kept me coming back every day to check for updates and now I find I spend 99% of my day with a little Uberwindow in the bottom corner of my screen.
Thanks for making the last year piss by uber - who knows what I'd do if I actually had to work all day!

I first got here about 4 years ago, was really active for the first two years while I refined my style. Now I lurk, mainly because my life was pretty damn boring and not worth writing about.
Ok I am lying a little bit, it wasn't that boring, but it did give me tons of ideas for animated shorts, sadly since I can't draw or animate, they are stuck as concepts, unfulfilled (for now).

The Ultimate MS Paint on B@W brought me here. At the time, I knew about MS paint and fucked with it daily out of boredom so that post was a glorious find.
After that I remember only visiting once a week or so just to get a quick laugh. I started following the dialogue of a few users (ETS, redskies, katy, etc.) and was eventually catapulted into the social fray by way of a spat with Shlongy.
I believe I actually have contributed a few pieces of good writing to this place - but my behavior here surely cancels out their worth. I'm 100% fine with that.
I'm not here for the reading, or the intellect, or any inspirational what-the-fuck. I'm here because it's a community just like any other: people interact, they develop alliances, backstab, burn out and do everything else humans do short of get in physical fights. People have developed longstanding friendships here. There's cohesion and status. Where else can you go to enjoy things like ADD posts, har har emus, -2DIE's and SPT?
I do plan on keeping it up. Although I run the risk of another Greening being out there waiting to ruin my real life, I like the heat I get and the attention I reap when I stir this beautiful pot called Ubersite.

1 - I went to HS with Gascs who started pulseHEAD, so I actually began over there. It was a number of months before I even heard of Ubersite. I had just started writing short stories, taking a break from my novel and , eh... that break has lasted for years now.
2 - Some people bitch about the state of Uber, but I've always received relatively good critiques on my work here. Sure, I get the drive by -2DIE!'s and such, but I'll also get users who actually explain to me what they like in a tale and/or what they think didn't work. I believe this has seriously helped me grpw as a writer.
3 - I'll stay because I like Uber. Sure... there are some things that I, personally, would change, but that's okay. I enjoy the quality posts right next to HarHar Rabbit. It's chaos incarnate and that makes me happy. Everything changes, everything evolves. That, and I'm currently #40 on MVA...
4 - Thanks for the shout out, man.

I credit maddox for the inspiration to make Ubersite. Seeing his site and thinking it was awesome made me realize that anybody can be entertaining, at least to somebody for a some period of time. Knowing I wasn't going to write enough to keep the website populated, I decided to open it up so anybody could submit things. If I had known at the time how it would turn out, it's hard to say whether I would have made the same decisions along the way. That's how it goes.

Got on here through b@W. It'll be 3 years on the 30th. WOOOOOHOOOOO. I definitly read more than I say on here. I guess my first few posts sucked so I'm always thinking of something good to come up with, but I was never ment to be a writer. But my favorite stories to read when I first got on here was from Mick Ginney's Token of my infection series. What ever happened to him anyway?

Found B@W in January of '04 through Maddox's site. Can't remember the first thing I read- pretty sure it was "Fuck Santa, Santa Sucks" or some such post that was on B@W at the time.
I jumped right in and started posting without really reading much of the stuff that was on the site. Proved to be a mistake as my next few posts after the first one would indicate. What kept me was the fact that a lot of people seemed to be genuinely entertained by what I was writing, and there was a lot of great stuff on the site at the time. Guys like catscradle and Murphy1844 were posting regularly. I also loved being a cunt. Just saying things to get under peoples' skin to get a reaction. It usually worked, too. I spent a lot of time on the site my first year and a half or so.
Don't know whether I'll stay or not. Doesn't seem to matter, really. I pop in every now and again. I check on the people I know, but aside from that there isn't much entertainment in it for me anymore. I'm bored by most of the stuff I read.

I don't really recall how I got here. Which is depressing, because it'll be two years in a few days. My memory really should be better than this. Oh well. I can say that I stumbled upon boredatwork.com first and then linked my way to Ubersite from there. What the first post was I can't tell you. Maybe a J-Date. Maybe one of comicbookguy's posts. That thing with the doo-doo-doo, the paper clip and the laser pointer? Balls if I know. Regardless, I got here.
Then I looked around, read quite a few hilarious and quality posts and realized something was missing. That something, naturally, was poetry. Not that I'd written poetry before. Serious poetry anyway. Regardless, I took it upon myself to try and write some of the worst stuff possible in an effort to make people laugh. It didn't go so well. Well, it did and it didn't. Vanity drove me to assume that what I find funny is, of course, what other people will find funny. And I am nothing if not vain. Obv. Look at all the 'I's here. This review's got more 'I's than an Italian last name.
During one of his old HBO specials Dana Carvey did bits that he said were things that made him and other comedians laugh, and so they might fall flat when generally consumed. I started with pure, unfiltered shitpoetry that pleased me with its terrible nature. And let's face it, they were basically ass. But then something happened and I threw my hat into a writing comp. A silly choice but a good one in the end. Speaking of "in the end," has anyone seen Shlongy lately? Nevermind. Anyway bad writing simply wouldn't do, so I went about trying my hand at something serious. It took, apparently, and people responded. Positively. Because of this I pressed on and attempted to refine my work over time. Murder begat sentiment, sentiment art and art religion. I gave myself to beat and structure and threw whatever I could think of into the blender of my mind to see what concoction I could come up with. And you gyrating, pants-off partybitches drank all of it down and didn't even care if the glass had any salt on the rim.
So: I started with foolishness, I stayed for progress, and I'll continue for a challenge. For I've never really written for myself. Good writing, that is. I've said before that all of my posts here were created at arm's length. I want to see what happens when I stop writing stoically.
The question is, do you?
Oh and I'm also staying to make sure that Sacrilicious, Anansie, Crystle, ghola and scourge's wife all carry my children to term.

Badass Australian Cows on B@W brought me here, and I stay in the hopes of one day writing something even half as spit take-inducing or otherwise entertaining as that post.
Why will I stay? This is really the best way to get my writing out there at the moment; I don't consider myself good enough to publish (and likely never will), and the notion of writing as a LIVING, ye Gods, seems further than Olympus or Asgard. I'm content to sit back, bang out a few posts per week, and bask in any laughter or "I didn't read this" I may generate.

I found the site through bored@work
I registered the same day as Method.
There was no verification in place when I joined Uber. Random Joe was still available to make comments, Shitpost Thursday as an institution had not come to be, and about 90% of the current users had never even heard of this place yet.
I stayed because of people like Hidden, Loki, Apollo, Phinch, Insanethemind, Reallybored, IDDQD (back when he really wrote) Hadooken, Party03, El_Guapo, Natophelia, SpikeGoddess, JMG114, PeopleAreStrange, Streetpunk, Loren1, and more.
Why will I stay? I don't know. There are still some good posters around here that I enjoy reading. I have less than 100k hits after nearly 4 years. I post when I want and those few people who comment I appreciate.

I was told about www.boredatwork.com by a friend, specifically the story 'Licking a Bum's Ass'. After clicking around, I found Uber, and lurked for quite awhile, about 8 mths or so.
The 1st things I read on uber were Tom Sorrell's 'Fun with Real E-mail' and BAMF's stories about his time at that kiddie concentration camp place. It took more than a week for me to get verified, and I never believed I'd actually become friends with some of the people who had written the very 1st things I read on Uber.

1. I was randomly wandering teh intarweb, and stumbled upon the gold that is Stevie's posts on B@W.
2. The minute after I read it, I signed up. Ten minutes later, I was registered in full, and had posted.
3. I liked the scathing reviews about how awful my writing was, I decided to keep it up and see how much more awesomeness would continue. I miss the creative hate, but I still enjoy writing.

Jonukahs cum post brought me. I stayed because it's a good laugh. I'm considering leaving because of all the alters.
