Bryan Hitch, born in 1970, is a British comic book illustrator famous for his "Wide Screen" art. His work is highly detailed and ultra-realistic. He often uses dynamic double splash pages and creates iconic imagery. With his emotive facial close-ups and superior sense of depth, his work often appears as if one is looking at stills from a big budget Hollywood movie. After co-creating "The Authority" with Warren Ellis, Hitch has worked on virtually every big title in the industry, including "X-Men" , "JLA" and "The Ultimate Avengers."

Ah, that's Jenny Sparks from "The Authority." She was born on January 1st, 1900 and lived for one hundred years as the living incarnation of 'the spirit of the 20th century.' She was the leader of The Authority until she died at midnight, at New Year's eve, 2000.

"Superior sense of depth" is a very good way to describe these pictures, I wouldn't have noticed really if you hadn't mentioned it, and would have skipped over these because the genre usually bores me. This is what APW is all about.
