***************************************
When I was a young boy
My mama said to me
There's only one girl in the world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti
***************************************

And there is. There was. There will be again. Mama was right, but wrong about the timing. Sometimes it takes not looking to find that which you didn't know you were missing. Sometimes you have to make all the wrong choices before you make the right one.

The Tahiti part is way off, but that's just figurative. That part of the story is no more concrete then the variable data address printed on the same piece of mail delievered to a million different houses. For me, it wasn't Tahiti. For me it was here. But the part of the story that's true across the board is...

***************************************
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her.
***************************************

And again.

***************************************
Or maybe she's in the Bahamas
Where the Caribbean Sea is Blue
Weeping in a tropical moonlit night
Cause nobody's told her 'bout you.
***************************************

She's not in the Bahamas. Truth be told, I don't know where, exactly, she is. But I know she's there. I know she's waiting. If she weren't, I'd know it. I'd FEEL it.

The weeping part is true. Weeping not because she doesn't know about me, but rather because she does. Because she knows all that once was and could be again. Weeping, because waiting isn't fair, and sometimes the right thing is the hardest thing to do. Weeping. Weeping and waiting.

***************************************
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Find out where they hide her
***************************************

And again.

***************************************
Why am I hanging around in the rain out here
Trying to pick up a girl
Why are my eyes filling up with these lonely tears
When there're girls all over the world

Is she lying on a tropical beach somewhere
Underneath the tropical sun
Pining away in the heatwave there
Hoping that I won't be long
***************************************

"Girls all over the world..." No statement could be truer, but then again, no statement could be further from the truth. The bachelors, the playboys, the partiers - happy there're girls all over the world. The smart ones, the lucky ones - know that there is only one.

Hoping. Hoping and waiting.

And weeping.

***************************************
I should by lying on that sun-soaked beach with her
Caressing her warm brown skin
And then in a year or maybe not quite
We'll be sharing the same next of kin
***************************************

Hopes and dreams. Plans made and then put on hold. Dying a little each day because it can't begin, but fearfully knowing that once it begins there will never, ever be an end.

***************************************
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Find out where they hide her
***************************************

And AGAIN.

Someday.

You know I had to resurface to get in on this. Great idea. Other song to stories I've done:

I just went out and bought The Monster Squad on DVD today.

I'd never seen it before.

It was AWESOME. Have a +2 for that.

Awesome.

I've never heard of this band. Thanks for the broadened horizons.

I'm just saying, why not have two geniuses in the family? Sort of a
spare in case Bart's brain blows up.
