It's been a while since the last BFTG review, but as you can see there are still plenty of classics everywhere we look that still deserve reviews.
Today, we are going to take a good long look at Chip's Challenge.
OVERVIEW: Chip is a high school geek. Chip met Melinda the Mental Marvel in the school library. Now, in order to gain access to the Bit Buster club, Chip has to move through a series of increasingly difficult rooms.
If it wasn't for the game's simplicity, the plot would have most certainly made everything take a turn for the gay. The plot is completely non-existent. Whatever story there is, it's terrible. So nevermind the overview. Just pretend you didn't read that.
Interestingly enough, Chip's Challenge originally appeared on the handheld Atari Lynx. It was then included on the ZX Spectrum home computer. The Chip's Challenge we know today is the latest version, which was included on the Microsoft Entertainment Pack.
The object of the game is to collect all the chips in every room and make your way to the goal within the time limit. Along the way, you can collect different colored keys (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow) that go to their respective different colored doors (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow). Chip can also collect Fire Boots, which will allow him to step on...... uh....... fire. Flippers allow him to swim. Ice skates allow him to not slide out of control on ice. Sucker boots allow him to move however he wishes on directional tiles.
There's also a shady-looking dude that steals all your shit if you step on him. AVOID THE SHADY-LOOKING DUDE AT ALL COSTS!!! HE'S WEARING SUNGLASSES AND A TRENCHCOAT, YOU CAN'T MISS HIM!!!!
Without these boots, Chip would certainly either be burned alive, drown, or spin completely out of control and either be burned alive, drowned, trapped in horrible pits, eaten by monsters, stung to death by hornets (Chip is allergic, you know), bludgeoned by pink circles, ripped apart by flaming shurikens, or run over by tanks.
If you ask me, I don't think the bitch is worth it.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
MUSIC: 6/10
GRAPHICS: 5/10
PLOT: 2/10
Shady-Looking-Dude Bonus: +4
OVERALL: 9/10
Play it for old-time's sake.

eh, it just made my ADD act up. Not enough whirly-gigs and flashing lights and what-not to hold my attention for very long.

How come shady looking dudes always wear trenchcoats and sunglasses? Why not Zubaz and barrettes or doc martins and fanny packs?
