So I decided to love you...
It was funny on the first day I saw one of my best friends. He was a nice kid. Fat, chubby, overweight. One of the kids who you could tell had gotten picked on a lot of his younger years but still managed to hangout and be in the "popular" crowd in high school.
Good guy. Always with a smile on his face and a helping demeanor. He would do anything for a friend. Anything. Didn't matter if it was 4am at night and you were stranded 3hrs away if you were stranded you called Tommy. When I first met him it was during our years in high school.
I used to at first just mess with him a lot. Typical "frat boy" humor. It consisted of retarded things we would do. "Ball checks", titty twisters", "wedgies" etc.. We would take him out and get him wasted beyond his control. It was funny he always had a good time and never wanted anything else but to please us.
Soon we became friends. He didn't really fit within my group or the way I was. He wasn't the coolest guy but he could be "trusted" and that meant more to me than anything else.
When I first started to date Jessica he was there. He would always be with us the 3 musketeers we were. He was the funny "fat kid" within our group while we dated. He was always there to tell me if I did something wrong or not "nice" to her and it pissed me off.
He was right most of the time. I was madly in love with Jessica. She was tanned skinned with dark brown hair and the darkest "green eyes" I had ever seen. I didn't treat her the best but not the worst either. I loved her. But not enough we seemed.
Then one day I found them. I saw him putting his arms around her and giving her a gentle kiss. I sat there in disbelief as I watched him in the dorms with her. We had only taken a break because of my cheating ways a couple weeks earlier. I didn't mean to cheat but like every other "cocky asshole" I wanted my cake and wanted to eat it too. But not with Jessica.
I saw her crying as they talked. I sat there and eased dropped in on their conversation. I saw my best friend crying at what had just transpired. I could see the tears run down his chubby cheeks as he spoke to her about how " I was his best friend". He didn't know what to do. I watched as she sat there weeping about how she loved me but somehow all I could do was break her down and cheat on her.
They spoke about how despite the things I had done that they both loved me. That I was the first one to acknowledge "Tommy" and that after his mom died I was right by his side calling him every day and left him a personal note. He knew that I loved him. She spoke of the same thing about how I was the first to ever make her "feel beautiful on the inside" and saw her for more than what she was. She kept weeping uncontrollable at the thought of what they had done.
Then they spoke of how they loved each other and how that at first glance Tommy was in love with her. He was the one that introduced us. She was his friend from Chem. 120 and I was his best friend that came by the class. He has basically known her first. But he knew the routine and that she would probably go for someone like me other than him. She spoke about how she always thought he was uninterested and never really seemed to be into her. She said that she loved him because he always was nice to everyone and everything and held her during her tough time with her parents. She loved him. He loved her. I loved them both.
I sat there on the step by his apartment a week ago. Just sat there as I eased dropped. I loved Jessica. I could see us together but I had hurt her bad and had done too many things to her that I felt for the first time that I didn't deserve someone with her beauty and character. I didn't deserve her love.
I thought some more about Tommy and I loved this kid. I had never loved another man besides my dad and my brothers but I loved Tommy. I mean I loved him like a brother. Even lately when people ask me how many brothers I had I always say 5 because Tommy to me is my brother. He's my little brother and I would do anything for him. Whether it be when I beat some kid up for pushing him, or else smoking pot during season (I don't smoke pot at all), or else just skipping big parties to just bug him at his place and just hangout with him. He wasn't the coolest guy but he was my friend. I would do anything for him.
So I did it.
I stepped aside.
I talked to him about it and I confronted him. You could see his face drop and turn red as he tried to apologize to me and I watched as tears came down his face. He's way to sensitive. But that's why I love the kid. I told him it was okay. He was my teammate and my best friend. It didn't matter if my happiness had to be walked on so he could have his I was fine by it.
Same as Jessica. I talked to her and we are now "friends". She talks to me and every thing is cool. I decided to love them both when I first met them. For me that means stepping aside so they can love each other. It hurts right now as it would. But seeing them two happy together means a lot more to me than my own love.
I decided to love them. So I did.

Talking about yourself from "the cool friend" perspective was one thing, but trying to blend in your fantasy ending with it didn't work for me. Fat friend never gets laid but goes on to write sappy fictions would make for a more believable ending.
Just encouraging you to diet and exercise ;) It's worth it and it really will make all the difference :P Girls really dig hot nice guys.
