An overheard conversation before boarding:
Do you think the end of the world is coming?
The preacher man says that it's the end of time,
says that Americas rivers are going dry.
The interest is up,
The stock market's down...
But do you think the end of the world is coming?
Nah, so says the preacher man. But, I don't go by what he says...
We were escaping our little city, perched on the banks of a twisted grey river, long since scorched dry. We were escaping with the idea in our heads that we were heading for somewhere unaffected. Somewhere new and clean. A fresh beginning.
We hoped.
We prayed.
Silently we made our way to the platform, jostling with a bag each against people seemingly as hopeful as us. The train let out a terrible screech just then, deafening and crass. The guards began walking up from behind us, slamming doors and beating people away from the carriages. I dropped my bag and shoved yours from your shoulder; dragging you as we headed up the long and winding train, smashing people out of our way, not stopping; escape the only goal.
We reached a relatively empty carriage and squeezed, panting into it. The crush of bodies was almost unbearable. In a way though it was comforting. This mass of humanity was the closest we'd come to any sort of civilisation in weeks; hidden away in a crumbling ruin we had been hiding from the madness until it had reached us too and we decided to leave.
North was the direction we decided to take. The further north the better we thought.
We hoped.
We prayed.
The train burst into motion with a grind of un-lubricated metal. We were jolted together by the beginning of our journey.
You looked up at me,
'This is going to work, isn't it?'
'Of course. Of course it will! It'll all be fine when we get there.'
'I hope so.'
There was a hope in your voice that was not reflected in your eyes. A wave of futility crashed over me and were it not for the crush of bodies around me, I would have collapsed. You took my hand and we looked out of the window at the passing countryside.
We hoped.
We prayed.

Relatively as in 'in relation to the others', which are fuller than full, yes?
Anyway, I liked it.

What are you going to do when you run out of Godspeed songs?
===============
Not using just Godspeed fella. These are based on a big ole dream thing I've had and I'm using their lyrics just to make it more interesting and make me seem like I listen to kick ass music.

We look at Hurty and what do we see?
He's a young guy, he rides a Scooter, he listens to the Stereophonics. Lets see how far I can push him!

"We reached a relatively empty carriage and squeezed, panting into it. The crush of bodies was almost unbearable. "
Granted you used the word "relatively" I assume to denote that by comparison this car was empty but these two sentences seemed to clash for me. "we sqeezed into the empty carriage where the crush of bodies was almost unbearable"
eh whatever, nothing major just noting.

One of the first songs I remember growing up. Always brings about dystopic fantasies like Alas Babylon. Too bad I'd probably die in the inital chaos....

God Bless Hank Williams Jr.
The preacher man says it's the end of time
And the Mississippi River she's a goin' dry
The interest is up and the Stock Markets down
And you only get mugged
If you go down town
I live back in the woods, you see
A woman and the kids, and the dogs and me
I got a shotgun rifle and a 4-wheel drive
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
I can plow a field all day long
I can catch catfish from dusk till dawn
We make our own whiskey and our own smoke too
Ain't too many things these ol boys can't do
We grow good ol tomatoes and homemade wine
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
Because you can't starve us out
And you cant makes us run
Cause one-of- 'em old boys raisin ol shotgun
And we say grace and we say Ma'am
And if you ain't into that we don't give a damn
We came from the West Virginia coalmines
And the Rocky Mountains and the and the western skies
And we can skin a buck; we can run a crop line
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
I had a good friend in New York City
He never called me by my name, just hillbilly
My grandpa taught me how to live off the land
And his taught him to be a businessman
He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights
And I'd send him some homemade wine
But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife
For 43 dollars my friend lost his life
Id love to spit some beechnut in that dudes eyes
And shoot him with my old 45
Cause a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
Cause you can't starve us out and you can't make us run
Cause one-of- 'em old boys raisin ole shotgun
And we say grace and we say Ma'am
And if you ain't into that we don't give a damn
We're from North California and south Alabam
And little towns all around this land
And we can skin a buck; we can run a crop line
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

Did you take that picture?
========
Yes. On a train in Surrey. All the pictures I've used in this have been mine.
----------
cool.... I'm seriously impressed with the photo in precurser.
===========
Can't remember where I took that one, but all of them have been edited in PhotoShop so I can't take credit for being a decent picture taker.

For length of the series... I'm a firm believer in letting a series finish during the height of it's popularity.
But it's all up to you.
=========
Word. I'd like it to have some kind of conclusion though.

This is good. Even more desperate then before though. Fucking keep it up man, and you'll always get ratings from me.
================
Yeah, that's my concern. I want to keep it as on the edge as I can. I don't want to do too many. Suggestions welcome for length of series.
