As I waited for my pants to take their morning spin in the dryer, as I was getting ready for work, I flipped on the TV to see if Cable was offering me anything for my seventy plus dollar bill each month. I stumbled upon a documentary about Bruce Lee.
I believe it was "Curse of the Dragon" but I'm not sure.
It was pretty good. It had lots of old footage of Bruce in his prime (although footage of Bruce after his prime would not go over well, what with him being dead and all.)
There were bits of interviews from Bruce's brother and various producers of his films and, oh! That guy that did the fight choreography in the "Karate Kid" was in there too; he played the judge in the tournament at the end (useless fact).
If you get the chance to check it out you should, his life story is amazing and the dedication to martial arts was incredible. He could do what he called a "one inch punch" where he would basically flinch and yet transfer an incredible amount of force, usually knocking the recipient back several feet. He truly honed himself to be near the peak of human fitness
Anyway they were talking about how he developed his own style, Jeet-Kun-Do, learning from many different martial art styles and so Chuck Norris comes on and explained that Bruce's style was in keeping the kicks below the waist.
Chuck says, very humbly mind you, "well I was know for my kicks, and I told Bruce he should start kicking higher....."
" Known for my kicks"
I chuckled to myself,
This is Chuck Norris, of course he's known for his kicks.
Hey!
Wait a minute!
What the fuck?
Did Chuck Norris just imply that he gave the "Gift of Roundhouse" to Bruce Lee?
Blasphemy!
Bruce Lee needs no lesson from you, round eye!
Bruce Lee gave the lessons, bitch!
Bruce Lee gave the "Gift of Bruce Lee" to the world.
The nerve of some people.

i like bruce lee as well as the next guy, but i always laugh when people throw up something from a movie to prove he was a badass. he undeniably WAS...but those are just movies, people! that's like saying, 'no way, Hulk Hogan is the strongest dude alive! didn't you see him bodyslam Andre the Giant at Wrestleville 245?!?!?!'
not that whoever posted that link (not going to go back to look) is guilty of doing that, you just see it happen a lot.

Bruce Lee was amazing. They actually had to slow down film to capture his movements properly at times.
Actually, they didn't "slow down" the film. That doesn't even make sense. What ACTUALLY happened was that Bruce Lee had to slow HIMSELF down so that the camera could keep up with him. If they did anything to the film, it would be to speed it up, therefore increasing the frames per second (which is the technique used to creat slow-motion effects), not slow it down, which would only serve to speed the actual seen video up and make it very jittery (think the old silent films of the early 1900s).

THANKS for the clarification. I misspoke.

I agree, Chuck is a one trick pony if it weren't for that lame-ass roundhouse he'd be bent over by the first pair of thugs he came across.
