It's Friday...
You don't REALLY want to be bothered doing anything remotely like work, right?

Rob Zombie's "Halloween" remake comes out today. So far it's received pretty mixed reviews; most movie critics hate it, but fans seem to adore it. I'm going with a crew tonight to see all the wonderful bloodshed. If you've been living in a cave for some reason, and haven't seen any of the trailers... here are two of them -

The groundbreaking Graphic Novel, "30 Days Of Night" comes out on the big screen this fall. The tale of brutal vampires terrifying an Alaskan town looks like it might actually not... suck.

"Saw IV" Does anyone care anymore? Hopefully "Stephen King's The Mist" will rock.

The Richard Mattheson classic "I Am Legend" is getting a big budget treatment this upcoming Christmas season with Will Smith along for the ride. What does it say about the contemporary state of Horror Movies when someone of his star caliber uses material like THIS for a holiday project?

And yes...
They ARE in the pre-production stages of doing remakes for both "Hellraiser" and "The Creature From The Black Lagoon."
I'm not sure how I feel about the "Hellraiser" remake. The first one still holds up, but I would love to see the new technology on #2. Besides, anything that gets Barker's name out there some more is good. However, there is some question on whether Doug Bradley will reprise his infamous role as Pinhead.
And as far as I'm concerned, as long as Bredan Frasier is NO WHERE NEAR "Black Lagoon," we should be all right.

as long as they don't remake A Nightmare on Elm Street, I'll be fine.
30 days of night is gonna be awesome.

'The Last Man on Earth' (mid 1960s) with Vincent Price and 'The Omega Man' (mid 1970s) with Charlton Heston are based on Legend.
And both of them suck balls more than you could possibly believe.

I've been looking forward to I Am Legend for a long time now, since the late stages of the (finally confirmed) pre-production. As has been said, it's been tossed around a lot lately, attached even at one point to Ridley Scott and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Fortunately for a bloated budget-projection, THAT version never got past the planning stages. (Well, maybe if Scott had found another star...)

At least the Vamps in the 30 Days of Night trailer look like they do in the comic but it still looks like theyve manage to fuck up the unfuckupable. Fucking Hollywood idiots.
I still hold on to a fragile hope that the Watchmen movie will die a death before they vomit all over Allan Moores good name again.

Legend has been in the works for something like 20 years, attached to various stars. I bet they fuck it up. The story is pure Matheson, simply told and gripping.
One of the best and most under rated horror flicks of the last few years has to be Haute Tension. The ending is a love it or hate it thing, but the movie is fucking great.
=================
Haute Tension was fucking awesome. That decapitation with the cupboard was inspired.
Hostel was pretty good, but Hostel 2 is better acting and gore wise I reckon.
I've always thought that Wrong Turn was underrated. Fucking awesome film with competent kids rather than the usual useless bastards.

Saw, Wolf Creek, Hospice... ever since Silence of the Lamb they've been trying to get way too much mileage out of the "brilliant serial killer" genre.

Another top notch flick that I was sure would be trash, is Hostel. It's about time we're seeing good old fashioned R-rated gore again, none of this pussy PG13 garbage.
And of course, you could always watch Dog Soldiers for the 37th time. That one is a Top 10 all time favorite.

There have been WAY too many crap horror movies released over the last few years, with a few good ones here and there... Let's hope some of these turn out to be good. Hellraiser though? Not too sure that needs remaking...

the Halloween remake looks pretty good from the trailer. i'm just not a huge fan of redoing movies that were already well done to begin with.

Unfortunately, Shlongy doesn't do horror movies. Never got into them.

It's nice to see Shlongy sharing. And its not just with KK, he's doing it with Bart too - the whole "My wife loves Dave Matthews" thing.
You see people - He's not just a metal shell filled with boiling hot bile. He's more like a Twinkie - soft yellow cake exterior with a creme filling. Who doesnt like Twinkies?

that '30 Days of Night' looks like a cool idea, but from the trailer it looks like they managed to shit it up.

The Man and I are going to see Halloween tonight! I've been waiting for this ever since it was announced that Rob was going to be doing it. I do so LOVE that man! Rob that is.
I'm just a sucker for horror movies.
I loved the Hellraiser series of movies. Normally I don't like gore in my movies (I've seen enough of it in real life thank you very much) but Hellraiser also had the psychological thriller aspect to it.
Slasher flicks are stupid and predictable. Anyone can turn a serial killer/creature/whatever loose on a unsuspecting community and let him/her/it run around eviscerating everyone. Too easy.
But....fuck with someone's mind and it'll linger a very long time.

Being oldish, my favorite horror films are still the old Hammer flicks. Particularly those with Christopher Lee and/or Peter Cushing.

A remake of Hellraised would be a fucking outrage. I can't believe you'd watch it! Anyone other than Doug Bradley as pinhead would completely ruin it. He MAKES that character great.
Seriously, who would play him now? Who's that fucking badass? Nobody.
