What constitutes the epitome of our desires? Is it our possessions, comfort, security? Is it community, interdependence, emotional ties? Sex, drugs, rock and roll? "Well," you might say, "it depends on the person!" Under the impression that we are all different, all individuals, each with our our separate and unique wants, and needs, it seems impossible to satisfy everyone. How can we satisfy everyone's desires? How can everyone be content? In short, how might we construct the perfect society?
A concise questions warrants an even more concise response. We can't. How can we satisfy the pedophile, the rapist, sociopath? Do they not deserve to live a life as of similar quality to our own? Are they not guaranteed the same rights that we hold most dear: freedom, equality, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness? If they are not allowed to pursue what makes them happy, denied something they did not choose to desire, how can we pursue what makes us happy? The only solution to this disparity is to even it. We cannot pursue what makes us happy. We need to live in solidarity with those who thirst, yet find no water, and hunger, but find no food. We need to sacrifice. However, if sacrifice is upon us, where will our excess go? If equality is to be preserved, no one can have more than another? Send all your money to me! It's the only way to preserve essential American values. What, are you a commie?

And communism is bullshit. Freedom must be asserted - it cannot be given. To say that one can give another freedom is to imply that said one can take that freedom away. If someone can simply take away your freedom, then you were never really free to begin with.
People are created equal but they don't end up equal and there's no reason a government should be established to change that fact.
