Walking down the hallway to my room
I tripped upon a sin
It reminded me of times not long enough ago
And the memories all came flooding back
How I never seemed to win
Took it on the other cheek each day with every blow
Oh, I've seen my faith go wandering
Can you show me that you're there
Cause I can't survive these lonely nights not knowing if you care
Living in your shadow feels so cold
String me up and set me free
Cast away my doubt in you and let the son shine down on me
If you're really watching over me
Could you tell me where to go?
Oh, I wonder as I wander who I've been before
Why have I wound up in such a place?
Can you tell me how it's so?
Could I make a difference if I tried the other door?
Though I've seen my faith go wandering
You have shown me that you're there
And I make it through these lonely nights just knowing that you care
Breaking through your shadow feels so warm
For your life has set me free
As I cast away my doubt and let your son shine down on me

I was rude when I first arrived, and people reacted accordingly, but I'm glad I stuck around (most of the time) because I've written more in the last 8 months than I had in the 3 or 4 years prior. I let it die out a while back, and it's nice to be creative again.

Whilst I don't share the religious sentiment of the song/poem, the level of personal meaning invested in this resonates well.
It's lack of showiness is vaguely reminiscent of later JOhnny Cash- in a good way.

I'm sick of all this Christian propaganda you spew everywhere.
Write a poem about Zoroastrianism or we're through.

Damn you and your Lyrical ways. I'm sure I said something about no singing thing yet here it is in all its 'waiting to be sung' glory.

It didn't start out as a song, but it just kind of fell together that way. Sorry dude, music is what's in my blood. Still...I don't think I'll post a recording of this one. It's a bit too personal to me for sharing in this sort of forum.

CT. ummm dont mean to be picky but son....sun, last sentence or whatever its called
-----------------------------
It's a phonetic play on words...as in the "son of God." Thought the spiritual overtones in this were very evident, but maybe not...

Yes, it's another poem-song of mine. No, I won't post a recording of it.
