Sooo.... I've been pretty busy with life so the mosaics take a lot more time. this is my most recent, made for my Canadian nieghbors upon thier request. I'm now working on another, a lamp globe.

haha...
i felt wierd even creating it. the main reason i did was cause my nieghbors are ex-canadians who requested it. they've helped me out tons so i obliged. actually that red glass is awsome especially when it's got light shining through it.

More importantly, I hope this gets nothing but +2s forever and ever, because how great would it be for the "best ever" über post to be a glass mosaic of the Canadian flag.
The seeming randomness of it appeals to me.

Yes, I say it's easy... .The process itself is easy. I think I could show you the difference. I've walked a few people through doing this so they could make gifts for others. They made passable pieces that were special to the recipients because they were made by the giver. to point out the difference I have to sound a little arrogant and for that I appologize but I'll put it like this... thier pieces tend to be just random placement of different colored glass. It looks nice, and is easy to do. My pieces usually involve some sort of detail or actual design to them. It actually takes some effort, vision and a lot of patience to make something work when you're working in such a rigid medium. Look at them, "script" lettering (one on a round object(complicates matters trust me)) a snowflake (while not intricate see the Round Object comment), Straight lines, precision, It's a matter of degree, a greater attention to detail, space, color, layout. When I say it's easy I don't want to give the impression that it's of no worth just that yes, anyone can do it and probably see passable results.

Smashing tile or glass and gluing the pieces to a board is easy. Making art out of the debris - that's the hard part.

the other thing I forgot to mention is this was done so that my neighbor (damn canadians) can hang it in thier window to let the light shine through it. Has a very cool glow to it.

I would happily do some commision work...... Need to know what you have in mind for a design, how large you want it, and if you have particular colors you're interested in. This one was like 14x16 or something close to that, fairly large.
