Inion makes some interesting points, but porn is changing.
Why would anyone spend even 10K on a feature when you can shoot scenes with amateurs for next to nothing and charge monthly subscriptions?
It's all in the delivery now, anyway. The internet and amateurs have turned everything upside down.
Plus, no one watches past the five minute mark, anyway.
Jenna is in a class by herself. Using her as an example of the money porn stars make is misleading. Others have gone into production but none like her. She was smart and in the right place at the right time.
However, I'm pretty sure more legit actors have production companies than porn stars. They're pretty ubiquitous out here.
All a porn star needs is a website and a camera, basically. You don't even need to be a porn 'star.' One of my neighbors makes 5K a week with two web cams.
As for fake tits, etc, I quite like them. But I like all tits, regardless of enhancement.

First may I ask how old you are? If you're in you early 20's - nevermind. If you're in your late 20's, early 30's... well, you've been hangin' out with the wrong crowd of women. SURE, they care about their looks, (just as men that age do) but most mature & intelligent women have come to realize that physical appearance is not the totality of their existence. And by this point, men of the same caliber maturity & intelligence seek out these women.
It's one thing to get hammered with some gorgeous chick at the bar, take her home and fuck her senseless. It's another thing entirely to find a woman who you want to plan your life around. I've been searching the 'net trying to find statistics and documentation to present my case - however it seems either A) I'm not as good at google research as I thought, or B) the Porn industry keeps really shitty records. In any case, I'm attempting to prove to you that the premise you've presented - Men want Blondes with Big Boobs - has been obtained by skewed data.
I know that on two seperate occasions I've read articles that support my theory. 1 - Hustler's "Barely Legal" series has out sold all their other video series by triple in the last decade. I remember this because I found it slightly creepy. None the less, aren't these young women of the so-called "natural" variety? 2 - Most major porn sites are reporting a loss in the last few years and they are blaming it on the rise in popularity of the "Amateur Porn Sites." For as fucked up as some people think your self image is, Katy, I never particularly had that opinion in regards to camwhores, because the few photos you've chosen to post have not been of the 'watch how supercandid I can be while it's obvious I've obsessed over them' variety- instead, they've appeared to have been *actual* candids of a *real* girl and that's a hell of a lot more courageous and without pretense than many women are willing to be on the internet in general, let alone on ubersite.
Regardless of people's differing opinions about the porn industry, I think it shows a certain self-confidence to immerse one's self in that culture without being either 'one of them' or a self-loather (or both)- and to report to a place every day where the norm might be the surgically enhanced and the superficial. I wouldn't want to work in that environment for a number of reasons, but I don't think that to do so necessarily means you condone or envy the superficiality or its consequences. At worst, you have a less than stellar self image, but who of the majority at one time or another fucking doesn't? The fact that you can be honest about it without coming off as self-pitying/indulgent says something for you on its own, and is kind of hot.

I work in adult on the retail side, and outside of Vivid, VCA, Hustler, Digital Playground, Wicked, and a few others, I'd say you have the same pretty-to-plain ratio as you do in mainstream entertainment. Granted, I rarely see any super-thin girls. There's more fat-chick porn than there is thin.
Also, keep in mind that the audience for porn is much more limited than the audience for mainstream movies. A lot of women want to see "plain" chicks in romantic comedies because they are less threatening, and they can identify easier. Like Jennifer Aniston, for example. Ass-ugly, but hughly popular in romantic comedies. She's the Ron Jeremy of mainstream movies.

re: jeanneee, a lot of the girls that are bigger in the industry run their own production companies for millions of dollars net income a year after they stop performing. i'm willing to bet there are more women with production companies in porn than mainstream hollywood. drew barrymore may have her own, but i can rattle off 50 regular celebrities that don't.
re: kaos, my boss would actually prefer more brunettes on the cover and in the pages. she doesn't particularly like boob jobs either. however, sales records say blondes with big tits on the cover sell more than any other combination. most guys will say a porn star is too fake and that they wouldn't fuck her but really, if she walked up to you in a bar you probably would. i actually believe you do have a different ideal than what my company pimps. but then again you might like suicide girls, which is just another mainstream genre that fills the fantasies of a much smaller demographic. billions of dollars a year are spent when on the really really high end these porn films cost about 100k to make, average far closer to 10k. you can try and tell me all you want what's beautiful, but the fact is that most people that buy porn are men. and the highest selling type of porn involves blondes with big boobs. and currently the highest selling type of sex is threesomes of any combination or larger groups. ergo, men prefer blondes with big tits in sexual fantasies. club jenna likes doing "artistic" stuff. real costumes and art in the make up. effort in the sets, good cinematography (which can be done even in porn) but it doesn't sell so they do shit like barbie's first anal safari or whatever. what the editors and producers want to make and what makes money are very different things sometimes.

I agree with you, inion, in theory. However, I think that if a "sexy" movie star (Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, etc.) has a large enough fan base then most of them wil follow her if she started doing porn. Now, they could never start in porn and be famous, but I think their fans would transfer from movies to porn pretty quick. There's no tellin' how long they would continue being fans, though.

no seriously. most celebrities are too ugly or plain or scrawny to work in porn. they'd never make it. same with models, they just don't have the look. yeah a few of the younger girls could make it, like jessica alba, but look at most of hollywood and really they don't have what it takes. the only reason they do end up with money from porn is when like the paris hilton sex tape came out. she would never ever make it otherwise. fugly and scrawny. keira knightley, scrawny, all those tartlets on shows like the oc or those teen drama things don't have the face or the body for it. the little half celebrities like hillary whatshername disney star, never. maybe the amateur one time porn, but the six figure even approaching jenna jameson career is way outta their reach.
