Everything is looking stretched, and I don't know why.
I think I'm the only one who sees it, but at the moment, this is pure conjecture on my part. Others may realise, but they're keeping cool and level-headed, not letting on that it's happening. I commend them for this, as its freaking me completely out.
My eyes sprung open this morning, rattled into life by the soulless bass drum that is my alarm. Its hollow throbbing echoed through my skull, separating flesh from spirit and shaking away my dreamy solace in waves of sonic reverberation.
This may be where it began; as I'm sure my eyes phased through my skull and observed my brain thinking about what to do next. I blinked as I thought, ideas built and swirled as I watched; thin grey fluid pulsed and stirred synapses as my own eyes looked on.
But this isn't what I wanted to talk about; it's neither here not there. It's the fucking cracks I'm seeing every where I go. I'm not talking about footpath joins, or slivers of sky that peak down between buildings, although they may be part of the problem? It's beyond that.
Everything is disjointed; the parts are separating from the whole. It's like the world and all that reside on it are shifting, becoming unhinged. I'm not crazy; I'm not a nutter, yet. But this is real, it's happening, and I don't know what to do.
My cotton shirt made me aware. It's old, yet comfortable, and doesn't rasp my skin like my new clothes. It's off white, almost bone in colour, and frayed at the cuffs, but it's cool. As I buttoned it, I noticed small cuts, or worn patches on the front. My fingertips felt them, and I looked down, expecting to see the skin of my chest through the fabric.
I didn't see my chest - I saw nothing, a cavernous void of nothing. It was like the curtain of existence had been ripped back, exposing the floating blackness in which we all really exist. I became scared. I did not know what this was. Ripping the shirt off my back and flinging it against the wall was what I did.
I cautiously approached the demon shirt, as what else could it be? It wasn't evilly possessed yesterday. I prodded it, and eventually worked up the courage to touch it and investigate. The rips were still there, as was the void, as was the blackness. Only this time, I saw the universe pulse within, stars and galaxies twinkled in the ether. It was rather beautiful.
I pulled myself back from the edge, and chose the blue jumper to wear instead.
Then I began to see the void everywhere I looked - in the space around a door frame, in the gaps and hollows of the crumpled blankets on my bed, in the pores of my skin. I ran around, holding my arms to stop myself falling apart, to no avail - my skin seeped the universe, and the starlight streamed from within me, although I felt no pain at all.
I wished I was scientist so I could figure out what was happening, and soon found myself in a lab, with a microscope hovered over my hands, peering into nothing and everything.
Some guy, a janitor maybe, chased me out of there though, as I'm not really a scientist, and didn't really belong.
I walked forever, seeing the nothingness peeking out of every crack or join or edge or corner that it could get a grip on. The whole universe was turning itself inside out, and I was the only one who noticed.
Buildings shrank and wobbled as they were sucked in and out, people fell screaming from great heights as they suddenly found themselves on the outside, sliding down the slick glass of the windows. No one really minded though, no one looked up and yelled or pointed, everyone just went on in the normal way.
I think the rings of Saturn edged up through my coffee cup, you know the bit under the rim of the plastic lid. I poked them back through, and they fell away. So I opened the coffee, and jumped in. It was hot, and burnt me, but soon I fell through to the soothing coolness of the void.
I jumped from planet to planet, danced on asteroids, and waltzed with a comet. But being alone, I grabbed an edge, and swung back in to Earth. I saw others fall through the cracks, and they just fizzled and sparked, falling in flaming trails to the bottom of the void, if there is a bottom, I never saw them again anyway.
I was tired, so I slept.
I woke up, and my body was gone, but my mind was alive.
I woke up as nothing and as everything.
I put my white shirt on and disappeared through the cracks.

Continuing the trend to remain one of the few people on here that I actually read on a regular basis.

Some of the phrasing was alittle clumsy, but, overall, this was quite well done.
I enjoyed the visceral imagery.
