Well I thought this was a GREAT way to present the ideas in the story (which have been done a lot around here). Good stuff.

I think including nine additional images would have been unnecessary given that most of the readers probably wouldn't care enough to make the undertaking valuable. Doing so would make the presentation complete, yes, but it would also make it twice as long. It's hard enough to get people to keep reading and moving down the page as is without running the risk of boring them.

I had considered having the killer create his own postcards and use photographs taken of the victim that matched the descriptions on the back. However there would be no way the USPS would deliver such material, and having him enclose them in a FedEx envelope or something would take far too much set-up and explanation for a post of this sort. I could certainly see the images being valuable in that case, though.

Postcards force you to make a choice. You can only look at one side or the other, and you have to make a decision which face you want when sticking one up to your fridge or office wall. I made the decision to show everyone the back. I'm sorry I couldn't have shown you more of the Montana landscape.

You don't think a picture with each card could have been poignant, or ironic, or sadistic, or any other of a thousand adjectives?

You lost a point for posting past the deadline.

I would have waited if I could have, but the only time I had to write was a few days ago.

Rules are rules.

That being said, I liked this.

In other news, I opted out of my bye out of the kindness of my heart to let Drogo and scourge participate. And how do they reward me? By not even showing up to play.

Lesson: Always take the bye.

I don't mind Uniter. If he cares enough to actually write words in a review I'm always happy to care enough to write back and explain my decisions.
---------------------------------

True, but in this case I perceived his (her?) feedback as purely fececious sarcasm, not really anything constructive to help you improve this post.

Which was totally ace, even if it was a little past deadline. You did a good job with the title.

Don't mind TheUnitard. Some things are better left to the imagination.

Personally, I can SO envision a lighthouse with crashing waves on the back of these cards - given the postmark, anyhow.

This was very "Silence of the Lambs"ish. Good job.

If you're going to take the title literally, WHERE'S THE PICTURES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE POSTCARD?

---

Do you think that people would really be more receptive to this post if the other sides of the postcards were provided? It's hard enough to get people to scroll down a lot as is - doubling the side of the image to provide simple photographs would probably bore some people. We all know what to expect from postcards. They're forgettable, benign and pedestrian. They're safe. That's why I liked this idea, because when you flip over some 5x7 piece of card stock with a landscape or burst of color on the front you're expecting something trite from a friend or relation.

Besides better to let people make up their own minds as to what's on front, no?
A little imagination never hurt anyone.

If it'll satisfy your needs, however, just try to picture the following up there.
You can even pick and choose the sequence yourself.

interesting format, trite subject, even more trite in its execution.

youll get everyone sucking your cock, but this is pretty ordinary, aside from the manner in which its been presented.

_______

I think that getting points for interesting format is not a bad thing.

It's not entirely simple to be original, particularly in a genre like horror which is over-represented because of society's collective morbid fascination with the macabre, so my opinion is that bringing anything new to the playing field is worthy of at least a measly +2.

Add to that the fact that the text is sound, in reference to technique, and capable of making me feel something; frustration, anger, sorrow, and you have something which is worth the plus twos it gets.

I like the creative format. You really got inside a psychopaths head well.

Especially demented: the grisly touch near the end... "I know he would want me to keep them".
