I LIVE!

I hope that you Ubers haven't been too worried about my extended absence. I was in the hospital longer than originally planned. But I am home now and recovering. For those of you who are new or need caught up, I have a debilitating bone disease called Fibrous Dysplasia. Two weeks ago today, I had reconstructive surgery to place a metal rod into my right femur and surgery on my hip. To make a gruelingly long story short, once the doctor opened me up, he decided to go a different route with my surgery. He had to break my femur and remove part of it in order to straighten it and insert the rod. Then he screwed it in place with a metal screw through my hip.

The reason that I ended up in the hospital longer than planned was that I lost a great amount of blood and had to have a transfusion. I am recovering faster than I had originally thought, but the pain is SEVERE. Ouch!!

Lucky for me, I get to stay as doped up as a common street whore.

Yesterday I got the staples taken out and saw the first x-ray since the surgery. It is very strange to see the rod inside my leg. But once it heals, I should be a lot stronger and be able to do some of the things that I was unable to do before like run and jump. The bone disease will never go away, since there is no cure, but there are some experimental medicines that I will be taking to try and slow the disease.

One really good thing is that I get all my medical care for free as long as I allow them to document my progression because of the rarity of the disease.

Sorry, I know this is kind of a boring post, just wanted to let you all know that I am back and ready to rate some pretty crappy posts!

Hang in there and Heal.......

I have been recovering for over a year now from Cancer Treatments, I still get good Pain Killer Drugs.... Everyone is under the impression that I am addicted to prescription pain killers but the truth is I need them. I will admit that every so often I take more then I am suppost to, so I can get a good high but not everyday.

Good to hear you're up and kicking. Im another newbie, but unlike speeddaimon (who is being read), Im not quite as funny or profound. Nevertheless, its always good to hear that someone had succesful surgery. Good luck with that! Im rooting for ya!

Hooray, I'm glad you're out and that the worst is over, at least I hope the worst is over. There is a where is berz post on here somewhere that someone posted while you were gone.

While you were gone some idiot mcbain came in here and pissed everyone off and there was a lot of poop posts. Not much else to report, the new Lisa chick is cool she's not the same Lisa that made me so crazy. She's a lesbian, so what do gay guys and lesbians talk about when they meet? "Oh hi, I have so little in common with you that I don't even know what to say"?

Just a thought.

Congrats on a successful surgery. I'm a NooB, but you'll see my name around somewhere. Anyhow, as long as you're not racist or really like poop stories, you haven't missed much. (Razor's Roast was pretty good)
