Do you consider yourself a good liar? How about a good writer?
If so, give this friendly competition a shot.
Rules:
1. The competition will be run according to the ubercontest norm, with interested parties replying to the post, me randomly picking matchups, the number of rounds dependent on the number of entries, etc.
2. Each contestant must submit two first-person short stories in the same post. One of these must be fiction, the other a real occurence. NOTE: the true story should be true in its entirety, not just based on actual events. At the time of the post, the contestant must email me (diamond0sea.at.yahoo.com) saying which story is true and which is not.
3. The winner of each matchup will be NOT be determined by rank. The people who rate the stories will tell which they believe to be true, which false. The person who fools the most voters wins; in case of a tie, ranking will be taken into account.
That's about it. I don't mean to interfere with Gruberfest, which looks like its doing quite well this year, though I did not read any submissions-- I just wanted to see if this sort of contest would work out here. Anyone who's interested, post here before noon EST on Wednesday.

by the time im 26, i want to be on my way to a phd. or at least, thats what i think i want. well see. anyway, its not my decision; my school makes us turn this shit in. if you dont apply to college, you cant graduate. 3 apps are due tomorrow.

college apps? please. i didnt fill college apps out until six weeks before fall semester started. wound up paying too much for a bad school for my first year, went to community college for a year and a half, took all those bullshit classes i have always hated, then went to a real school and found out all the classes i took dont transfer.
having a job by the time your 26 is overrated anyway.

yeah, this is supposed to be more of a test of writing style than of unbelievable shit thats happened to you. stories, not statements. i do agree that no one will put forth the effort... i havent been away long enough to forget that much. i just wanted to see if it might work out.
