Yep, we did it again. It seems we in America are trying to help Quebec separate itself by annexing Ontario
I can't say I blame the State Department actually.
They had a video produced by Disney (go figure) that shows all these American touristy things. When they showed the Falls, they showed the much more majestic Horseshoe Falls.
The same Horseshoe Falls that just happens to belong to Canada.
They even filmed the shot from the Canadian side.
The story is here, http://www.thestar.com/News/article/271727 and yes, I used the Toronto star story as a form of atonement.
Niagara falls is a wonder, if you get the chance to see it, you should. But the problem is Niagara Falls Ontario. is very well developed. The area is full of lots of restaurants, two casinos, and a whole shitload of tourist crap. Wax museums and the lot.
It's cheesy but profitable.
Niagara falls, NY is another story.
We have....NOTHING.
There are a few crappy hotels, a casino where I never win and, possibly, a block of gift shops. It's very embarrassing when you compare the development to the Canadian side.
Well, welcome Ontario as the 51st. state and just make sure you keep the Labbatts flowing.

we (and by we i mean not me) almost (and by almost i mean if the americans didnt run away from two dudes throwing rocks at them, they'd have taken the fort, and thus canada)) took canada (and by canada i mean what there was of a canada at the time) during the revolutionary (and by revolution, i mean half a revolution...revolutions are only revolutions if they fail) war (and by war i mean prolonged violent conflict).

Want to know why the the US used the shot of the Horseshoe Falls? The same reason dogs lick their balls. Because they can.
Hell, if the US wanted to take the whole falls, they probably would. They would take all of Canada if it was worth their while, but they won't. Why? Because it's full of Canadians.

Nuts.
Then again, I'm not too worried about trying to rake in a huge paycheck if I have an easy monthly mortgage payment (again, from a Californian point of view). Fuck, I could tend bar if it came down to it. Wouldn't get to dick around on Uber all day like I can now though in my cushy office job. I could probably pay half the cost of a nice house in cash and then laugh off the 30 year mortgage payments.

Hey man...
What are things like in upper NY state these days?
Been thinking of moving back east for some time now, mainly because my dad isn't getting any younger and I feel like I should be around to help him out. In Upper NY state I could drive there and back on weekends (he is outside Ottawa, in Ontario*).
I know the economy was in the shitter for a while, but when I look on realtor.com I see houses practically being given away (from a Californian viewpoint).
How are things now? Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, etc. Good job market?
Regarding the post, overdevelopment blows. There is constant debate over allowing COMMERCIAL SPONSORSHIP of the Golden Gate Bridge. In other words... ads. Fuck that.
