Quit your pissing and moaning you cocksucking bitches
there are people out there willing to do the same quality work (if not better) for less money.
if someone is willing to make less doing the same work, then underbid, or find a new fucking job... its called competition
you will be driven homless by the scabs

im not saying they arent important, i am saying they should have negotiated their cut of the profits ahead of time, and not piss and moan after the show was a "big hit"
that would be like someone selling an old baseball card for $100 then finding out that several years later its currently worth $1000. the current owner has no obligation to the person they bought it from.
they most likely signed contracts giving the production company all rights to their work. regardless on if its the best or worst piece of work ever, the monitary responibility of the production company ends at the agreement when hired. hindsight being 20/20.
if they want a cut of the dvd sales, they need to add that to the hiring condition.
and if their writing resume is good enough (hence why there are credits to each show) they will be able to negotiate more with each success.
my word you are ignorant.

would it also mean that producers of failed tv shows can get a refund from the writers?

Not that anyone cares, but I feel like writers and actors are the most important contributors to a production, as opposed to directors, art directors, cinematographers, etc.

I agree with the sentiment.
Exactly the same way as I agree that if a Mexican can do your job for cheaper and work harder at doing it, you should be fired.

I cannot get my head around your opinion or why you express it so vehemently. It is like me being stirred up into a billious rage by the sight of a few pigeons squabbling over a Mcdonalds wrapper.

I think it is a bit crap, really, that screenwriters aren't getting a share of DVD sales and the like. Don't songwriters get a cut for every copy of an album sold...?
Maybe I'm wrong.

One time in Boston I was chatting up a homeless guy outside of a concert. His life story was, more or less, "I used to write a bunch of shows, but then I started to drink a lot. Then I started to smoke a ton of crack, but now I just drink again."
--
And you were chatting this guy up?

Dude, talking to addicts is so punk rock.

I have to admit that I like talking to Mr Big Issue in Exeter every now and again. I especially like his 'Free Delivery' pitch.

and yes i do believe writers should get a cut of dvd sales and stuff...but that shit thould be negotiated in the contract on a projhect by project basis... if its a condition of your willingness to work for a company, then dont write for the company... but dont be suprised if someone is willing to do the same witohut that cut from dvd sales, etc.
its called contracts
and unions are communist
