I lost you out there on the beach.
We were holding hands and talking about being children again.
You pushed your toes deep into the cold sand while you listened to me.
You smiled when I moved the hair off your face and tucked it behind your ear.
You were laughing at me and I felt ashamed for a moment.
Then you looked at me with your eyes and I knew it was impossible to be vaunerable around you anymore.
I lost you out there somewhere,
because I was talking and walking away and when I turned you were gone.
The water had erased where your toes had been and the spot where we sat was missing too.
I looked around and called your name as loud as I could.
I lost you out there on the beach.
Where did you go?
I have so much more to tell you.
