These people are dead now.
For some reason, old photos creep me out. It's like looking at ghosts who are looking back at you. I don't even believe in ghosts but it's kind of fun to give myself shivers.
Don't be too hard on them though. After all, these were taken back in the day of no Photoshop retouching, their lives were hard, no cosmetic surgery, women's make-up choices were one size fits all (even when it didn't), and standards of beauty were quite different.
That being said, I'd love to post a picture of my grandmother when she was a young woman (Flapper era). She was tall, blonde, leggy, and quite the dish.

Some of these are just plain scary, especially the last one. The PEOPLE, I mean... half look ape-ish and the other half look like they're mentally retarded (the aimless look, like they're staring over your shoulder, always gives it away).
