50 years ago Edward R Murrow began a project called "This I Believe" to encourage people from all walks of life to submit their personal philosophies in 500 words or less. I stumbled upon my friend's blog post where he posted his own "This I Believe" article, and asked anyone that came across it to write their own. Here is mine. I challenge anyone that reads this to do the same if they so wish. Regardless of whether or not you do, I hope you enjoy.
This I Believe
-------------------
I believe that everyone in life, including myself, tries to plan out their lives to a point that they feel any deviation from that plan means they have failed in life. They have only failed themselves for not realizing, nor understanding, that any changes in their life plan isn't because of something they did wrong, rather it happened so they could experience that change. I believe there is a higher power, be it the God I believe in or something else, I believe that someone is up there, allowing us to explore the gift of life in our own ways. That being isn't there to "grant" wishes like most wish it was, rather I believe that higher power exists solely to make sure that when it's all over, we explain to them what we got out of life. I believe that love, like any other passion, can make a person go overboard, and it will destroy someone if they let it. I believe that, while we all can make choices, the choices other people make can somehow make a choice we make obsolete. I believe that some tornadoes in America cannot happen unless a butterfly flaps its wings in China.
I believe that a person has control over the choices they make, but they have no control over the results of those choices, even though they might feel they do. I believe that regardless of some choices, there are points in time in a person's life where they would be no matter what choice was made, and that at that point in time all choices and possibilities intersect, even if for just a split second. I believe that life should not be taken for granted, and that we should live everyday like it is our last. I believe that people have too many reservations towards each other- we are too afraid to offend someone, to the point that we shun the truth from them. I believe the world would be better off if we just admitted faults, accepted change, and stopped resistance to new ideas. I believe that everyone tries to hard to blame something else (or someone else) for their own problems. I believe people use God, Government, and anything that's been given "power" as a fallback for when they stumble. "Surely, this power will help me now!" and when that "power" doesn't, they denounce it as a fraud, and rather than admit their own misstep, they'd rather battle to the death that "power", a struggle that will only end in their loss.
I believe that everyone who reads this will disagree with me, and agree with me. I believe that any idea I talked about above will be categorized as a "type" of thinking, as if I studied that person to the extent that I copied them. For this person, I leave them with this quote:
"The man who writes about himself and his own time is the only man who writes about all people and all time."
-------------------------------------
Thanks for reading.

You do? So, you don't believe that anyone is spontaneous or lives their lives one day at a time, choosing to take life as it comes and to learn along the way?

I believe that children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me
I decided long ago
Never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I will live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Chorus:
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
And I decided long ago
Never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I will live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Chorus:
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
And if by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

Don't feel bad about the copy/paste job. I'd -2 this even if you'd written it yourself.

wishy washy bollocks.
in my book one is either an atheist or an extreme fundamentalist.
there's no point being anything else.

You didn't even read it. You just made a wild assumption it was about religion.
But to each their own.
