one-thousand smothered screams in silence
my soul whispers its discontent
I stand alone on this lifeless plateau
waiting for her to rise in the distance
a hopeful smile fades to nothing
I stand, staring silently
my conscience begging for a scapegoat
displacement
I kneel and dig a grave
for the bug I smashed in frustration
I say a prayer for it, and walk away
directionless, aimlessly stepping....no destination
only a vague idea of what I hope to attain
on this desolate plain
the sun and the moon accompany me on my lifeless journey
to the promised land
the breeze
the voices
the soft slumber of my restless mind
goodbye
