I was asked to make this mosaic by a person whose family recently acquired a horse. I don't know much about horses except that they have soft noses, are relatively large animals, live for quite a while, you can ride them and they crap a lot. I think you can make glue out of them after they are dead but I don't know if a horse like this would be sent to a knacker (is that what they're called? that seems familiar) or be turned into dog food or if it'd be buried. anyone who owns horses or knows anything about it should tell me how a hobby/competition horse is cared for after it passes. i'm curious.
Ok, so back to the mosaic, remember the mosaic?, this family has recently purchased a Trakehner. The Trakehner breed of horses has it's own brand and strict requirements have to be met before a horse can receive the brand. This piece is 12x12 in a custom made frame.

that would not work very well, the whole glue/glass/grout thing to be worn would just not work. sorry.
i've enjoyed seeing people's interpretations of the brand and admit when I looked at the finished product I too saw a bit of the clown with kiss make up.

i miss my garden. I grew sugar snap peas and carrots and onions and spinach and broccoli, and zuchini and pumpkins and beans and had a strawberry patch. my last bunch of onions lasted me through the winter and were some of the best yellow onions I've ever had. incredibly hot when raw and super sweet when cooked. mmmm.

not that I'm aware of.... looking for other pictures to work from I ended up learning a little about the horse but I guess I never saw an explanation of why they use antlers for the brand.

no worries. if you care to put out a story it's pretty much turned into an exhibition more than a comp since more than half of the entrants bailed.
I suppose you could but I doubt the Trakehner people would be very happy about it. that is for the American Trakehner, there are variations on the antler theme depending on where the horse came from.

depends on the peice. this one I built and the peice I'm working on now I framed because it's 24 inches in diameter and is round. If i can skip it I do as buying it is just a little quicker but sometimes you can't find what you're looking for you know?
