SPNow - A coupon and a picture. Yeah, I realize it's Wednesday and not Thursday, and I probably should've waited blahblahblah, but the truth is I have the memory and attention span of a gnat and probably would've forgotten, so here it is. Deal. (887 hits)

As the roar of no more analog television come February 2009 gets louder, I must secede and get a converter. *sigh*

Because I am one cheap bitch and really don't want to give away the hard earned penny I receive every 1st and 16th of the month, I found a government subsidized coupon for the converter. I thought I'd share, just in case there was anyone else who doesn't have cable or satellite in their home.

That's all I had to say really, so Happy Humpday. Enjoy a picture.

just get satellite, peasant.

Satellite is for working class people.

I'm working-class, I guess. I have satellite TV and internet. No cable TV or 'phone lines capable of DSL where I live, but the stars are bright at night.
---
Commoner- you probably put crisps in your sandwiches too.
-----
Only on PB&J. Never on bologna.
---
Do you eat pigeons too?
-----
I suppose you're referring to the delicacy known as Urban Quail? Nah. I live in the hinterland, no pigeons here. The hawks get 'em. I have seagulls and vultures, though. And a .22 rifle. And a really nice grill.

To free up space in the wireless spectrum. It is already going to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Expected value? 10-40 billion dollars.

Plus we're already 15 years behind Europe and Japan in every technological arena, so we're desperate to stay second world and not drop to third world in that respect.

I wonder why the government wants us to switch over to digital for TV. Why do they care? Can someone tell me?

I was in a Radio Shack yesterday and the guy behind the counter said they've stopped selling little portable TVs. Supposedly around the end of 2008 they're going to offer a portable DVD player-sized TV that gets the digital broadcast signal and has stereo sound through headphones and a (albeit small) HD-quality picture. Price point: US$150. Great. There'll be one in every car.

those converter boxes contain backdoor programs (something I know you're interested in) so that the government can access your computer files and monitor the goings on in your house.

Boy, when Marge first told me she was going to the Police Academy, I
thought it's be fun and exciting, like the movie `Spaceballs.' But
instead, it's been painful and disturbing, like the movie `Police
Academy.'
