It's been awhile since I've posted anything on ubersite (well, a month and a half). Not that any of you care, but I've been transitioning towards a new point in my life and I decided to use this fine medium as a place to organize my thoughts.

Things have been looking up lately. I've decided which university I'll be attending in the fall, finally ventured outside my basement and found myself a lady, and have generally had a whole new perspective on things.

I bought Against Me!'s new album, New Wave , which made me realize that a band can still put out good music when on a major label. Seriously, for anyone who needs a new band pick this up.

My British Lit teacher has gone completely insane. Today we were randomly assigned seats because apparently there is "elephant in the room that no one wants to acknowledge." Whatever the fuck that means. On top of that, we just did a paper on Macbeth in reverse. Yeah, you read that correctly.

A friend of mine used my computer to type out his essay for his application to UNC. The topic was friendship, something that has been a touchy subject as of late (teenage bullshit, all of y'all went through it at some point). After he left, I noticed he had not closed out of the file. Being the nosy person I am, I read through it. Reading it made me realize not only how important I am to him, but also how important all of my friends are to me. I had never really thought about why I hung out with certain people, but after reading the essay I finally got it. I won't bore you with any further details.

It's starting to hit me that soon enough I'll be on my own. To quote a song from New Wave , it's time for me to stop, take some time to think, and figure out what's important to me. Obviously some friends will be lost in the shuffle of college life, and unfortunately there will be some casualties that I did not want to happen. New people will be met, though, new people that will have a profound affect on my life that will reach farther than any high school relationship.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading, or at least taking the time to give this a well-deserved -2. As promised, my latest cam(hit)whore. Whoever can name where I live gets as many +2s as I decide.

Spell check is for pussies.

I react more strongly to a weak album if I liked the band.

Mostly the awkward awkward lyrics. I'm not bothered about the production, Searching For A Former Clarity had much cleaner production than their other albums and had that same "bigger" guitar sound, but that album was great. The riffs on New Wave just aren't anything to write home about and the lyrics make me cringe half the time.
---

Yeah, the lyrics do tend to be bit repetitive and if anybody else but Tom Gabel sang them the album would be an absolutely epic fail.

Ye gods I hate that album.
----

Do you hate it because of the music or because it isn't like all the other AM! albums? I admit it is definitely more produced than previous albums, but if you're looking for another Reinventing Axl Rose then go listen to Reinventing Axl Rose. RAR is definitely a better album, but New Wave is something completely different.

Enjoy your time with your friends while you can. In 10 years, you MIGHT keep in touch with 3 of them.

In this pic you remind me of the guy who bummed a cigarette from me, then followed me through the city on foot for twenty minutes talking about his "band" and making his own "label" if only he had the capital, and, you know, someone to listen to his awesome tracks.

Sometimes, oddly enough, I get mistaken for some kind of Rockstar. Most often on Saturdays.

Good Luck to you.

Was that a haiku? I mean, would it be, if the syllables were different, and maybe with different words or something?

sico, I would have to say that this was actually better reading than the last post of yours i read. The lack of presumptious misuesed language scores big marks with the judges.

good luck in life kid.

this is sort of like a post Perkman would do.

you know, if he actually had a working brain cell and the ability to use the language correctly and came off as being a halfway likable guy who was going to do something worthwhile with his life, or at the very least remain a fairly likable guy.

yep. JUST like a Perkman post as long as you added all that stuff. and deleted the extra chromosome and went back in time and prevented his parents from dropping him on his head so many fucking times.

just like that.

yeah.
