Yes, I know... 'fuck politics, apathy is cooler!' But I was watching the Republican debate the other night on Fox News and I couldn't help but be bothered by the anti-Muslim sentiment that prevailed in all of the candidates but Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee- not that they might not hold the same sentiments, but at least they aren't actively eschewing them. The thing that surprised me was that instead of coming from the traditional bigots, Romney and Giuliani, the comment of the night came from none other than Sen. McCain.
During the debate, Ron Paul was asked if he believes that 9/11 is a cover-up like some of his supporters. Instead of playing FOX's game of painting their least favorite candidate as un-viable and potentially crazy, Ron Paul decided instead to talk about the topic at hand- regarding Iran and the anti-American stance held by many Middle Easterners.
Paul: "...I don't know why we concern ourselves so much with treating Israel like an adolescent nation. We give the Arab nations three times as much aid as Israel, yet we still won't treat Israel like an adult nation. If we stopped supplying aid to all of them, and established more open trade instead, things would be a lot better."
At this point, John McCain interjected- "I don't want to trade with Al Qaida, because they only trade in berkas. And I don't want to travel with Al Qaida, because they only buy one-way tickets."
To this the audience roared with laughter, completely ignoring the inherent fallacy that all Middle Eastern countries must have a connection to Al Qaida; as well as over-looking the fact that John McCain made a 9/11 joke.
This is the same John McCain who had to back-track on an interview a few months ago when he made the comment that he wouldn't vote for a Muslim candidate if he didn't feel that they would 'carry on in the Judeo Christian principled tradition that has made this nation the greatest experiment in the history of mankind.'
McCain actually had to call the reporter back and re-issue his new mantra- "I would vote for a Muslim if he or she was the candidate best able to lead the country and defend our political values." One of McCain's staffers must have reminded him that the Muslim faith is based on a "Judeo-Christian principled tradition."
Thanks, John McCain! Anti-semitism was getting old.

I disagree with Ron Paul's religious views, opposition to abortion, and pacifism. However, in his defense, he has made it quite clear he doesn't believe 9/11 was done by the American government, but that it was the government's incompetence which allowed it to happen.

I think Ron Paul says/stands for more good things than bad.
He is, after all, quite human and has his many flaws just like the rest of us homos.
The entire political system we embrace is broken - Ron Paul is but a tiny cog in a massive decaying wheel of failure.
Still, I think he's a far more refreshing "politician" than any I have seen in a long time.

Just last night John McCain- in his concession speech for the Michigan primaries, had a Freudian slip. "The Mex- the Michigan voters..." The man's a racist, no matter how much people may like him for being a straight-talker.

It turns out later that he says he didn't write them and won't say who, but it has come to light that they were by Ler Rockwell, whose website Ron Paul still regularly contributes to. The simple fact is that Ron Paul must have known about these news letters, and actually believes them, or he has no problem spreading those ideas to get power. Either way he is scum.

I like about 80% of Ron Paul, but the other 20% is fucking batshit crazy as hell. McCain is soft on immigration.
I'd take Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, or democrat Bill Richardson (who just quit). It is going to be Romney or Giuliani Vs. Obama or Clinton. I really don't want to vote for a mormon, but the guy does have business sense and if the nation is headed toward a recession...he may be the man. Obama = Jimmy Carter part II.

The other trick is dragging someone's bottom of the screen toolbar to either the top or sides of thier screen.

How does a computer get turned upside down?

Its actually a pretty good gag to pull on someone in your office. It really only works with flat screen monitors.
Ctrl-Alt-"down arrow" will change the screen to "upside down"
Likewise, Ctrl-Alt-"right arrow" will change the shift the screen 90 degress to the right.

Ax, thank you...i was trying to get at whether voting actually means anything as far as getting the nomination of if the 'delegates' decide it along the lines of the Electoral College.

Delegates do come from the primaries and the caucuses. In the primaries, they go by vote total, but usually someone prominent for the party or a strong supporter of a particular candidate is chosen to be a delegate at the state convention.
The state then comes out with their nominee, and sends delegates the national convention.
The only time it really isn't tied to vote total is with the caucuses, where you could have 25% of the vote, but only 15% of the delegation. There can also be 'rogue' delegates, where a particular delegate decides to vote for a candidate other than the one they're supposed to represent.

Can you explain delegates to me? My understanding is that you need a certain amount of them to receive the nomination but are they directly linked to how many votes you get in the Primary or Caucus?

The two party conventions choose very differently. Democrats choose their delegates from more populous states. Republicans choose delegates from more loyal ones, and there's a bunch of other differences. To my understanding, they're linked to the states that voted for the candidates, but I'm not sure exactly how it works.
