I live in a nation where thousands of people will wait in line, through bitter cold and stinging rain, for a new video game or cell phone. These same people will not give ten minutes to help those less fortunate. They will not wait a second to give blood, feed the hungry, or help a stranger.
I live in a nation where millions of people will vote millions of times for a contestant on a television show, with each vote costing them untold amounts of money. These same people will not vote for their elected officials, stating that voting is pointless. They do believe, however, that the television show is not fixed in any way and that their vote is counted.
I live in a world where diseases are no longer cured. No matter how widespread the demographics, how devastating the affliction, or how contagious the disease. Simply because there wouldn't be any profit margin for the doctors and pharmaceutical companies involved. Treatment that leads to inevitable death has a better bottom line.
I live in a nation where our elected officials garner our laws and policies based on ancient texts. These same officials say that these texts are of the utmost importance, but conveniently omit any passages that do not suit their needs or their beliefs while ignoring the fact that not all citizens believe these texts to be valid or important.
I live in a world where there is no longer personal responsibility. Everything any person does has a catalyst that is not the person themselves. Media, peer pressure, and nurture are always the scapegoats while you ignore the fact that there are literally millions of other people in the exact same position that didn't do what the offender did.
I live in a world where the most oppressed people throughout history never bring it up in casual conversation or use it as a platform for personal gain. Yet, there are other groups that haven't suffered one tenth as much that will never fail to bring up their ancestor's struggles at every given opportunity.
I live in a nation where a person can be considered a sexual predator for making a comment to another. This person then must be placed on a registry where they will be ostracized for the rest of their lives. In this same nation, a multiple murderer will be set free, never to be tracked again because we are told the "paid their debt to society".
I live in a world where adults find nothing wrong with rioting and killing others over sporting events. These same adults claim that they are raising responsible, productive members of society and are shocked when their children commit atrocities.
I live in a world where the media will report endlessly about murders, rapes, war, genocide, and terrorism all with looped live video of these events. Then, the very next news story will be a report on why we can't figure out why our children are desensitized to death and commit atrocious acts on others.
I live in a world where people still believe that tragic acts of nature such as hurricanes, tsunamis, and earthquakes are the work of vengeful gods punishing you for some misdeed and not just the natural order of the world they live in.
I live in a world where we teach our children that it is okay to hate people different than you, as longs as they fit certain parameters that our politicians have set forth for us. Remember to teach you children it is wrong to hate blacks because they suffered. Hispanics, gays, Jews, and Muslims are fair game.
Worst of all, I live in a world where people ignore these facts everyday because to acknowledge them would be an inconvenience.

this doesn't have to be the USA.
much of this applies to many countries in the "western" world.
but stop whining. be glad you have the time to write shit like this instead of wondering whether you will have a meal today or not.
count your blessings that you have been fortunate enough to be born in excess.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Too bad this topic is dead to me.

You should put on a rage against the machine album and, you know, rage at the sheer injustice of it all.

Yeah, the wolves are at the gates. We all know. We all must do something. Will you cower in fear? Will you man the gates? Or will you go out and hunt?

This post, no matter how much I agree, has been done too many times just in different formats and I've become immune to the message. It's almost as though this will become an email forward any day now.
Sorry.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

This post reminds me of this song.
--Scornful Of The Motives And Virtue Of Others by Shai Hulud--
"Rest assured...
This is sincere.
This is true.
Let this be my writ of misanthropy
To a thankless world of men
Who have perfected nothing.
Save the art of accusation.
Woe is he that feels compelled to pen.
Even one word of hatred.
To know I hate with passion
With which I love is a travesty.
Let this writ acknowledge these facts.
How I miss the warmth of red blood...
The color of pitch is cold and hard,
And its merciless to the tenderhearted.
How I miss the strength of red blood...
Its susceptibility to burn jet,
And the might to withstand a brutal scorching.
How I have learned to wield this scorched, jet blood
To the gross advantage...
This blood must not go to waste.
All is not yet lost.
Take these words of blood ill-tempered.
Take these words and
Cut deep.
Lacerate the soiled flesh.
Impact the brittle bone.
And we all will bleed together.
May this blood pave the way to solution..
We have all been so wrong -
Conditioned to accept and approve of substandard
Communication and behavior.
Reason is clouding,
Hearts are hardening,
And the result is murder.
This age is grave bound,
Likewise its aging successors.
Aging, all the while, descending -
Developing an even more insatiable thirst for chaos.
Life among hyenas and asps under vultures
That pick at the corpses of the fallen.
And man will continue to suffer unto itself
Until some stand to rally the fray by firm example.
Chaos must succumb to order
Lest these days be numbered.
I cannot contribute to disarray.
I simply cannot relate.
Let this be my act of defiance.
Let this be my refusal to fit in.
Let this be my writ of misanthropy..."
I live in that same world and used to spend most of my time hating humanity and bitching about the blind sheep who are led by the other blind sheep on a daily basis. However, at some point you have to just let go, disassociate yourself from the main stream and do your own thing.
The greed of the common man will be the fall of humanity as we know it.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go wait in line for a Mac with the new Leopard OS because the TV told me it's faster than Vista and I believe virtually everything TV tells me. Bai2u!!! roflmaoz.

i live in a world where assumptions are made based on cliche views and bandwagon thought processes and where bitching about those around me is deemed productive and acute as opposed to the presentation of possible solutions is discussed.
i live in a world that you live in...i just see it differently and you should judge me or accuse me of not caring because I hold different values.
i live in world where we used to have good posts on uber
