Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. But Crom is your god. Crom, and he lives in the earth.
Once giants lived in the earth, Conan, and in the darkness of chaos they fooled Crom and took from him the enigma of steel.
Crom was angered, and the earth shook! And fire and wind rained down on these giants and threw their bodies into the waters.
But in their rage the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield, and we found it. Just men. Not gods, not giants. Just men.
The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts.
This you can trust.

Totally. All the kids who loved 300 should go buy the DVD of Conan the Barbarian and see how it is done. That movie kicked so much ass that they had to ass extra seats to the theatres to accomodate more butts to kick.

I'm not going to get involved with the comments. I love metal and hardcore music. All I will say is this: Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden influenced all metal and sub-genres of metal out there today. Bands like Sepultura and Pantera helped shape that scene of music into what it is today.
Some bands suck, some rule...it really doesnt matter. Some like it, some hate it and that's the way it will always be.

disturbed is ok in doses (the 3 or 4 songs that dont sound like everything else they ever did... and they do good covers)
i did enjoy them when the sicness came out (disturbed once opened for fuel back when "the sickness" just came out. it was amusing to see fuel come out after disturbed tore up the place and barely entertain the now fired up crowd with songs that pretty much took everyone fron 4th gear to second.
the problem with disturbed is they are sadly sounding more like godsmack than even godsmack does
godsmack also jumped shark aftethe first album
they will eventually turn into staind and become a pussy pissing and moaning "drudge rock" band before not too long
they will be in concert with nickleback in the next year or two if nickleback doesnt become a country band before then.

The Sickness was a phenomenal album, as was Godsmack's first album. Disturbed's "Music as a Weapon" tour/concept was also awesome. Sure, they're shit now, but both bands, like the majority of mainstream American music are stadium/cock rock bands.
They both did interesting things, but ultimately were about money. You can hear a Godsmack song on any commercial radio station in America, but you're not going to hear say, Strapping Young Lad for example.
Ultimately, 90% of the 'metal' bands coming out of the States these days haven't got a fucking clue, which is why, currently, all you lot are good for is indie stuff; a bandwagon, I might add, that the UK recently re-invented which the American music scene jumped the fuck onto.

theres a point where bands like cradle of filth, in flames, children of bodom, darkthrone, venom, berzum, cannibal corpse, cowbar, messuggah, carnivore, etc... start going incoherant and seem to try too hard relying simply on the same formula and shick value...talent is not needed....

slayer, dimmu borgir, king diamond, sepultera, blood for blood, minnistry. tend to keep more structure to the music and even though alot of other bands try to be them...doesnt mean they succeed at it ... (psalm 69 is one of my favorite albums).
same is said about the post grunge scene... just because you try to be alice in chains, pearl jam and stone temple pilots.... doesnt make you them
any asshole can play fast and scream or growl... but just because it happens to be metal doesnt mean its good.
and bands like iron maiden, metallica, judas priest paved the way for them...
i personally would rather listen to the stuff from the late 70s and early 80s than the shit that comes out today
i like some of the more melodic metals like iced earth, tristania, sonata artica, nightwish, mercyful fate, type o negative and even some of the mainstream alternative metals simply because it breaks away from the "just play fast and scream out shit" and make covers of good songs done in a way that nobody recognises it because htey have no talent of thei own.
