He stepped out of the hospital; a new lease of life at sixty three was a beautiful thing. He realised how much he loved the sound the wind made as it rustled the trees, and forced them to sway under its mighty howl.
Children played in the park, years before he'd have been considered a threat, but time had moved on, and his crimes were now forgotten, and his victims gone. History had wiped his slate clean and he couldn't be happier.
The doctors had said it was a miracle, his total destruction of the cancer inside him; it disappeared as quickly as it came. When he was lying in that bed with god knows how many doctors looking at him, he couldn't help but wonder and think how lucky he was.
He knew what he'd do tonight too; he'd saunter down to the Rose and Thorn, set up a tab and celebrate by drinking himself to oblivion. His shoulders seemed less heavy and his back seemed stronger. He had so much to live for; he could see it all now, the rest of his life opening up before him.
He wondered if his grandchildren wanted to come over.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He sung at the top of his lungs "Nobody, can sing the blues... like Blind Willie McTell...there's a woman by the river with some fine young handsome man!"
The smoke made it difficult for him to carry out the long tunes, but fuck it, he didn't care, couldn't sing for shit anyway. Cancer only kills old people, and he'd barely been smoking a year, so what if a little extra smoke stays in his lungs?
Tear streaks ran gently through his dusty face, the smell of grit and sand still lingered heavily in his nostrils, he knew they'd find her soon. Nothing much happened in the little town, and she would be missed within the hour.
The tequila sat next to him, half gone, the rest sat behind his eyes clouding his judgement, and making the speeding landscape rush and swerve at him even faster. If only she'd listened... if only she'd paid attention and not pushed him so hard all the time. Maybe then he wouldn't be here.
He was though, and no amount of crying or singing would change that, he pushed the pedal of his little red car a little harder, hurtling towards the city, looking to get lost.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She lay on her back, the smell was overpowering, sweat, sex and drink. This is hell, she thought as eyes gazed on her. This is my hell.
The cross around her neck seemed to push itself between her breasts, and almost try to dig into her skin, as if to hide from all the sin. She could see Tanya out the corner of her eye, almost as lifeless as she, as two men took turns degrading her. If the drugs would've let her, she'd have cried.
Her turn was coming, this was the price she must pay for freedom, and this was only different from her home by name and language, and freedom, it turns out, is just a word. The intoxicating liquids flushed through her, and she could just make out the sound of new customers arriving, and their gaze settled on her semi-lifeless body.
Thinking back to when she was young, she tried to remember a happy time, but there was none. This wasn't some fairy tale, where she'd been dragged away from a loving home. No. Her father had raped her and her mother had committed suicide years before. The inevitability of the ground rushing towards her must have felt somewhat similar to the men striding over to her... they both knew what was coming, they just didn't know what else to do.
The happiest moment she had was when she got told she was leaving for a world with better opportunities, where anyone can be someone if they work hard enough. The secret midnight travelling should have been a give a way... but she was young and naïve... she had learnt fast... too fast for a young girl.
Somehow though, she didn't think this was the sort of work they meant.

BREAKING NEWS
"An accident in the capital city today caused out right pandemonium.
A car swerved after hitting an elderly gentleman crossing the road, outside the Rose and Thorn's, the car is then believed to have swerved off the road colliding with parked cars before crashing through the front wall of the Rose and Thorn itself.
However before the night was over police found over ten women drugged in one of the back rooms, it is believed to be one of the many import/ export brothels now operating within the UK. Six men were found with large quantities of cash, and numerous narcotics that it is believed were use in the intoxication of the girls. The girls are now in the states care.
The driver of the vehicle was wanted in connection with a murder that happened hours before, where the body of his teenage bride was found mutilated in their barn on the outskirts of the city.
The driver is still in a critical condition, but it is believed if he is to survive he will likely not have the use of his body from the neck down. The police were unwilling to comment as to how they will be treating the accident.
The elderly gentleman, Nick Johnstone, was wanted in 1981 in connection with a string of sex offences against minors, but was never arrested due to technical loopholes, that have only as of the last year, meant that the cases in question would have been re-opened. No family member was available for comment.
Will bring you more as the story unfolds"

I think this is the first of your posts I've read, but I could be wrong.
I enjoyed my time spent on it.

Wearing odd socks means you get a wonderful contrast in textures. For example, I am wearing a black sports sock and an orange and red striped cashmere sock. it makes me smile when i'm waiting in line for things to wriggle my toes around.

You must have far fewer OCD tendencies than I.

Glad to hear it Drogo. Means I don't have to brave the cold to march down there and give you a hiding! I have recently adopted mens boxers for my underwears, as they are more comfortable for manual labour than skimpies.
In defense of my socks and thier oddness:

Yozz: I didn;t want to make it too long, because sometimes I feel that dragging things out for the sake of making them longer kills my original idea. Karma is sharp and fast, and it builds you up and knocks you down. I didn't want to create this long image ridden journey, just a brief execution of what Karma can do.

I get the subtext there Little M. I was in no way implying that you be a Lush. Finding matching socks is always cause for revilry in my book. Why just the other day I found a pair of underpants that I didnt need to turn inside out, my the time I had that night I could tell you.

I'm thrilled to hear the little toad that is infesting your home will soon be gone.

Boooooooooooooo. Bad form Drogo! I always need an excuse, yesterday it was that I had managed to find a pair of matching socks.
Having utterly given up two of my favourite drinks White wine and vodka (they turn woman into raving lunatics you know) I have settled on larger, thankfully in smaller quantities than I used to drink it, saving me from all day and night drinking sesions in dubious pubs, with even more dubious men! Hurrar!

Very nice. Would have been nice if it were a tad longer. But not "tad" in a gay way.

After all the stuff that's been happening to me recently, I just belive Karma is catching me up.
That being said, for those who are interested, transfer of equity is nearly complete.
She should be out before next weekend.

First I thought this would be a gay, boring story, but in the end it was kinda cool. Have a +2 because I have a feeling there'll be a shitstorm of idiots -2ing this.
